Hi, mjl.

The reason you were seeing a change in the network is not due to separate networks, but how the mesh network functions. Both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands will be running at the same time, but due to how each band might vary in the distance it can reach, you might sometimes be connected to one or the other at different times. The mesh network will always select which band is going to be best for your situation and device.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks

Hello @mjl

As @Ashepherdson said, you can create a guest WiFi network in the Google Home app. But, I also wanted to make sure you understand that the guest WiFi network will provide both 2.4GHz and 5GHz coverage, just like the main network does. There is no way to create a 2.4GHz-only network.

Thanks.  You are right.  I cannot create a 2.4GHz-only network.  I created one with 2.4 one outside of my house and once I came inside, it changed to 5GHz.
