Multiple nest connects and Yale locks won’t connect

HowardBS
Community Member

I have 2 Yale locks and 2 nest connects. Both nest connects are on my network and visible from my nest app. I am unable to add either Yale lock to either nest connect. I have done multiple factory resets and nothing works.
Up until about 3 months ago I had both Yale locks working with one nest connect. Then we lost power and one lock was dropped and could not be added back. I was told by Google support to get a second nest connect (you now need 1 for each lock????) I did and now nothing works. This worked perfectly for over 5 years?

Hi HowardBS,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Nest x Yale Locks and Nest Connects are not working as they used to. But no need to worry, help's here!

I understand that you already followed basic troubleshooting to pair you Nest devices again.

  1. How far is your Lock from the Connect?
  2. How far have you gotten in pairing your device?
  3. What’s the color of the LED status light?
  4. How far is the device from the router?
  5. Can you connect to the internet with other devices?
  6. Are there any other devices that experience issues with the Wi-Fi?
  7. Does the app show any error codes or messages?

Here are some advanced steps that you can check in the meantime (as no specific error was mentioned):

  1. Make sure Bluetooth is on. Turn Bluetooth off, then back on to refresh the connection.
  2. Put the mobile device on airplane mode, then turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
  3. Restart the phone or tablet.
  4. Reset the joining device to default.
  5. Restart the modem and router.
  6. Try a different mobile device.
  7. Move all devices being used for pairing closer to the router.
  8. Check the network settings.

Network Name and Password: Double-check that you're entering the correct Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password when trying to reconnect your Nest device. A typo can prevent a successful connection.

5 GHz Network: I understand that you already tried it, but some Nest devices might not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks. If your router offers separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, try connecting your Nest devices to the 2.4 GHz network specifically.

I have done everything suggested here, multiple times.  This lock will NOT connect. This has been a problem for years.  Why can’t the google gods fix it?
