Nest Connect Will Not Setup

I set up my Nest x Yale lock successfully, but I cannot get my Nest Connect set up. When I scan the QR code and go to the next page, I get the error "you haven't finished setting up this Nest Connect but it's offline. Try again later." I've tried the "learn more" link which pretty much throws you in circles. I have factory reset the Nest Connect, I've reset my wifi, I've un-installed and reinstalled the app, I've moved the Nest Connect.

I'm beyond frustrated. I've followed all of the steps, all of the troubleshooting, everything. I've dug through forums to find suggestions, nothing works. This isn't exactly an inexpensive system, and for it not to connect easily - or at all - is unacceptable.

Has anyone solved this? Am I missing something obvious?

What happens if you create a new structure in the Nest app and then try to add the Connect to that structure?

I'm sitting over here with an entirely separate structure from all of my other Nest devices, because Google destroyed my home network when they killed Nest Secure, and the Connect wouldn't bind to my network, but it would add to a virgin "structure" just fine.

This worked! At least to get the danged Connect to work in the Nest app. Unfortunately,  now my lock is on a second home in the Google Home app, and I'm not going to re-add all of my other devices to this new home. Tomorrow I'm going to try to delete the new home and try to re-add it to my primary home. Fingers crossed!

Won’t set up

Won’t set up camera

Hi @Broderick1,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I'm sorry to hear about the setup issues with your Nest Camera. But no need to worry, help's here!

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some questions:

  1. What kind of Nest camera do you have?
  2. Is the Nest camera 1st Gen or 2nd Gen?
  3. Have you followed any troubleshooting already?
  4. How far is the camera from the router?
  5. Can the camera find other Wi-Fi networks?

Here's what you can do in the meantime:

Checking Network Settings:

  1. Network Name and Password: Double-check that you're entering the correct Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password when trying to reconnect your Nest Camera. A typo can prevent a successful connection.
  2. 5 GHz Network: The Nest Camera might not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks. If your router offers separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, try connecting Nest Camera to the 2.4 GHz network specifically.

Advanced Troubleshooting:

  1. Network Reset (if comfortable): If you're comfortable with it, consider restarting your Wi-Fi router. This can sometimes clear up communication issues between your Nest device and the network.
  2. Nest/Google Home App Update: Ensure you're running the latest version of the app on your phone or tablet. Updates often contain bug fixes related to network connectivity for Nest devices.
  3. Factory Reset (Last Resort): If none of the above solutions work, consider resetting your Nest Camera to factory settings. This will erase all its data and settings, including Wi-Fi information. Note: Before resetting, make sure you know your Wi-Fi network name and password for re-setup.
  4. Check for Nest camera error codes or setup messages.

Follow the steps from this guide to Troubleshoot connecting to the app during setup, to Fix Nest camera or doorbell Wi-Fi connection issues and to Troubleshoot Nest camera and doorbell setup messages.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Regards,

Mario
