Nest Connect help

OKAY, this is more about Nest Connect than Nest x Yale Lock, but when I do the wifi connectivity check even when I placed my nest connect next to the wifi its still showed a yellow light instead of blue. Tried to move on regardless, but at the room choosing part it would not let me continue as it cannot connect to nest connect.

Can anyone help me?

Hi User18,

Thanks for posting in the Community. I’d be happy to help you with Nest Connect. Let’s check it out.

A few questions: is the new installation? Are there any messages in the Nest app?

Please try the steps below:

  1. Plug Nest Connect into a power outlet. Press and hold the bottom button until the LED light turns yellow and then blue. This action should reset Nest Connect to the factory default.
  2. Set up Nest Connect again.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Lance

Thanks for your help.

Fyi, my phone has successfully connected to Nest Connect, but still the Nest Connect cannot connect to Nest x Yale lock. I plugged in the Nest Connect around less than half of the 40 feet range from my rough estimation. However, between the lock and the Nest Connect is the wall of the stair, so I am not sure if this has an effect on my connection or not.

Looking forward to your answer! Thanks again.

Hello User18,

Thanks for circling back. Even if your Nest Connect is within range of your lock, something may be interfering with the connection, such as the wall of your stairs. Also, you can draw an imaginary straight line between your Nest Connect and your lock. Any time the line is blocked by something big or heavy, it might cause interference. Thick walls, furniture, appliances, and other electronics can reduce the range.

You can check out this handy guide to learn more about wireless interference and how to troubleshoot it.

Best,
