Nest Secure - How many homes will get robbed on April 8th, 2024? Here's the math.

Aside from an intentionally obfuscated e-mail and a tiny push notification, the majority of Nest Secure users do not know that their security system is going offline forever on April 8th, 2024.  This is going to leave many families unsecure and unsafe to home invasions that night, and for many weeks to come while families scramble to find a new security system.

So, what do you think?  How many families will be robbed because they thought they had security but they did not?

Let's estimate that Google sold 1 Million Nest Secures....if only 5% of the users are left vulnerable 6 months from now...that's  50,000 unsafe homes.

What % of those unsafe homes will be robbed in the month of April?

There are 2.5 million burglaries annually in the US. There are 141 million homes in the US.  That means 1.7% of homes are robbed each year.  Or 0.14% each month.

That means that of the estimated 50,000 unprotected homes, roughly 70 will be robbed w/o a working security system.  It will take many months for families to upgrade their security, as it's a costly commitment that many homes just made. So each month, starting in April 2024, 70 homes will be both unprotected by Google Nest Secure and will get robbed or worse.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
