Nest Yale Lock

I am starting to hate Next products.  The Yale lock especially.  My lock will work fine for awhile, then if there is any interruption in service, eg low battery's, disconnection etc, then nothing I do changes the Offline status except resetting the whole lock which is a pain in the ass.  My wifi router is very powerful, and 15 feet away with direct line of site.  I have Many other Nest products  further from  routers that dont seem to lose contact as often as the Yale Lock.  Please tell me there has got to be a better way or you are building a more reliable connectable lock?

update, my connect seems to be working just fine.  I just cant get my Yale Lock to link to it.  I have tried reseting it multiple times.  New batteries.  nothing.

This is why I’m here. The last couple weeks, my Nest Yale Lock has been going offline. This never happened until a couple weeks ago. I have factory reset both the lock and the Nest Connect multiple times. The lock will stay connected for several hours and then at some point it will go offline.

Nothing in the setup has changed. The WiFi, my router, etc are all the same. It’s frustrating trying to figure out what’s causing this.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with the Nest x Yale Lock. I’d be happy to help you with this.

Just to make sure we’re all on the same page, did you follow the steps in this guide to factory reset the Nest × Yale Lock?

Also, even if your Nest Connect is in range of your lock, something may be interfering with the connection. Draw an imaginary straight line between your Nest Connect and your lock. Any time the line is blocked by something big or heavy, it might cause interference. Thick walls, furniture, appliances, and other electronics can reduce the range.

Here’s an article to help you troubleshoot wireless interference.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Lance

Latest Nest app update that I received yesterday seems to have fixed it. The lock is now showing online.

Hey folks,

@Coachdvc, thanks for circling back and sharing your resolution with the Community. We’re delighted that you were able to find a solution, despite the initial challenges. If you have any further questions or need assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to us at the Nest Help Center.

@jr20, how’s it going with your Nest x Yale Lock? Have you tried to install the latest version of the Nest app? If yes, how did it go?

If you haven’t done so already, follow the steps below:

  1. Open your iPhone's Settings > General > Date and Time. Tap Set Automatically, toggle it off, and then turn it back on. Make sure that the time zone, date, and time are correct.
  2. Go back to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Nest. Make sure the Nest app has permission to use the phone's location.
  3. Check for any updates for the Nest app in the Apple App Store. The latest version is 5.75.
  4. Check for any iOS updates and install them if there are any.
  5. Uninstall the Nest app, restart your iPhone, and then reinstall the Nest app.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Lance
