Nest x Yale passcode creation

I am not able to create passcodes after having to reset my lock to factory settings.

I came home to my lock not being accessible via the nest app (was gray/not actionable).

Nest Connect light was out. So I reset it/removed it from the app, reconnected it.

This removed the lock and I had to go through resetting the lock to factory settings, removing it from Google home and nest. Upon adding it back, now after creating the master code, that does not function when keyed in, and I am unable to add/change passcodes.

extremely frustrating!

Hi Nater50,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I'm sorry to hear the passcodes in your Nest x Yale Lock are not working as expected. But no need to worry, help's here!

I understand that you already followed basic troubleshooting (like reset and restart) to pair your Nest devices again, here are some advanced troubleshooting steps that you can check:

Advanced checks:

Network Connectivity:

  • A stable internet connection is essential for the Nest app to communicate with the lock. Verify your Wi-Fi connection.

Passcode Format:

  • Double-check the passcode format. It should typically be a numerical code within a specific length range (e.g., 4-8 digits).

Lock Firmware:

  • Ensure your Nest Yale Lock has the latest firmware. Check the Nest app for updates.

Temporary Server Issues:

  • Nest servers might experience temporary issues. Try creating the passcode later.

Please make sure you check How to set or change passcodes for Nest × Yale Lock before proceeding, in addition please keep in mind to review  about the Master Passcode for the Nest × Yale Lock

Important considerations:

To keep your Nest x Yale Lock connected after support ends for Nest Secure you already have the Nest Connect, however it is important to remove the Nest Secure in case it is still added in the account as it may interfere with the Passcodes update and set up.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Mario

hello to all!! I had the same problem!! looked into every blog and called more than twise to the help desk (google) with no success at all....

FINALLY!!! today i was able to fix it!!!

If you are like me that used to have a Nest house alarm in your NEST account/APP , you need to :

Open Nest app

go to settings

Remove all the sensors and the nest home alarm (Remove device).

Reboot your NEst app

go again to the NEst X Yale  icon

select family & Guest

NOW you should be able to edit your current passcodes and add more users/passcodes.

Good luck / buena suerte

^This is exactly what I ended up figuring out myself. I figure the lock was still trying to connect to the nest secure somehow. Hope this works for you!

OMG!!! This actually worked !!!! thank you so much for posting this. What a relief not having to change everything, though I will probably migrate away from all Google products eventually. Every Google product is starting to fail in my ecosystem sadly. Thank you again, this was a life saver!
