Yale Nest lock wont connect ***solution***

cfrazzle

I, like so many, could get my Nest/Yale lock to work because it failed to connect to the app. The nest connect worked fine but not the lock. I tried everything. The solution ended up being to connect your phone, nest connect and lock all to the same HOTSPOT from another device. The security of a regular wifi network blocks the lock from connecting so you have to use a HOTSPOT on all 3 devices. Once it is added to your app, you can turn off the hotspot. The lock will then appear to be offline on the app. The next step is to update wifi settings on the nest connect through the app. Once that is done and now connected to your regular wifi at your home, you will then need to "restart" your lock by removing the batteries, wait 2 minutes and put batteries back in. It will then all be online on your home wifi. Your welcome!!! This took me about 8 hours to figure out after no help from the installer, google or my internet provider.

Hi everyone,

@cfrazzle, thanks for sharing your experience and steps to help you resolve the issue in our Community. Reach out if you have any questions in the future.

@Flabbergasted, there are multiple factors that can lead to an error when pairing a Nest device. Some of them are listed below.

  1. The Nest device doesn’t have power.
  2. The mobile device used to pair the Nest device is connected to a Bluetooth device, or Bluetooth is disabled.
  3. There are network issues.
  4. There might be settings in the customer’s network equipment that prevent the Nest device from connecting.

Have you had a chance to try the steps above? If yes, how did it go?

I appreciate your help, Alex.

Best,

Lance
