Yale Smart Lock YRD510 cannot setup with Nest Mini

I've recently bought a Yale YRD510 smart lock which supports  Google Matter.  I have a Nest Mini which I understand should work as the  "bridge" to setup  and connect with the YRD510 lock, yet I've been trying for over a week and the Google Home setup page kept telling  me "your device requires a Thread border router" after recognizing the smart lock QR code  and attempted to connect.  Looks like I'm not alone and I've also tried to have the Nest Mini firmware updated by all means.  Everything stays within  the same  2.4GHz network.  What else more can I do?

Hi @JL9

The Yale Smart Lock YRD510 requires a Matter-enabled hub with a built-in Thread border router to be fully set up and function correctly on the Google Home app. Nest Mini can be a hub for Matter-enabled devices that only use Wi-Fi to communicate, but not for Matter-enabled smart devices that use a mix of Thread and Wi-Fi to communicate, like the Yale Smart Lock YRD510. You need one of these devices:

  • Displays: Nest Hub (2nd gen), Nest Hub Max
  • Wi-Fi routers: Nest Wifi Pro (Wi-Fi 6E)
  • Streamers: Google TV Streamer (4K)
