Yale Smart Lock with Matter doesn't work at all

I just installed a Yale Smart Lock with Matter and it's completely unusable in Google Home. I'm unable to lock it or unlock it from the app (it says "something went wrong" when I try), and there are no options shown in the app to set the key code or add guest access.

I'm using a Google Nest Wifi Pro as my Matter hub.

May one assume you have attempted the usual trouble-shooting steps? Removing and putting back the batteries in the lock to restart it? Removing and re-adding the device in Google Home? Etc?

Yeah, I've reset the lock and re-added it to Google Home several times, with the same results every time. I finally gave up on Google and set it up using Yale's app, which works just fine. Although that does mean I'll have to get their wifi bridge for remote access.

Very frustrating. The only devices involved are a Nest Wi-Fi Pro, my Android phone, and the Yale lock which is "Designed for Google Home" and a "Google Home Preferred Product". This is supposed to just work. Maybe Google Home is not actually ready to support Matter devices yet, despite the marketing.

Well, I have it working (mostly) in my own home. Perhaps some Matter hubs work better than others.

Interesting, what are you using for your hub?

I bought a Nest Wifi Pro specifically for this setup because I assumed it was the best possible Matter hub for Google Home integration. I guess not.

You say "mostly", what isn't working for you?

There are a few things in my house that qualify, including two Nest Hub Maxes and a Google TV Streamer 4k.

So I randomly happened to see an article this morning about an update that was just released for the Wifi Pro that fixes setup issues with Matter devices. I reset the lock and tried again, and it finally works correctly. Although the Home integration doesn't seem to have one feature of Yale app that I found very useful -- the activity log.

I wasted hours on this over multiple days, and had already purchased a Yale wifi bridge as a workaround. The whole experience has been terrible, with no help or info coming from Google at any point.

Thank you for your help.

Hopefully, there's a good return policy on that bridge. Glad you're running.
