Assistant on mesh WiFi device saying "please login through the google home app"

Same exact issue as described on an older thread (see below), just with multiple google home minis (1st gen) on an ASUS XT8 mesh network. Google replaced my speakers under warranty but it turns out that wasn't the issue given that the problem remained. The only solution I have found to this issue is to use an old router as an access point for the google devices but this is less than ideal and a proper fix would be appreciated.

Manually updating my router to the BETA version (9.0.0.4.386.48966) from the latest public release (3.0.0.4.386.49873) resolved all my issues, thanks!

If you create a new home in the app, and move the device to the new home, does it start working again?

No unfortunately. I have also tried adding the devices to an entirely separate google account but the issue is definitely network related.

Seems that router model does have compatibility issues with Nest products. This thread relates to thermostats but I would imagine it's the same issue speakers. It contains lots of workaround suggestions and updates on router firmware that may be useful to you.
