Broadcast problems

When I broadcast a general ‘all-speaker’ message my Google/nest speakers have started rebroadcasting the message on the speaker I spoke to. Anyone know how to stop this?

Hi Jimgodfrey,

Thanks for responding.

Have you already tried to perform a complete reset to your devices? I'd like us to try to reset your Google Nest speakers and see if the behavior changes after reset.

Keep me posted.

Princess

Hi Jimgodfrey,

Thanks for reaching out.

If the message is started on a speaker or display, it plays on all speakers or displays that:

How many speakers do you have? Are they all in the same Wi-Fi network? Also, let's make sure that all speakers are all connected to a stable Wi-Fi connection preferrably within range from each other.

Hope this helps.

Princess

Hi - sorry for the delay in replying. All the speakers are in the same network and wifi. It's a particular problem with a Google Home Hub device. When you broadcast into it, it repeats the message twice and rebroadcasts it loudly. The message is broadcast to all the others - it's just really annoying to have it broadcast back to you on the speaker you spoke to (twice, and at volume). I've tried doing a factory reset on the device - thanks! Jim

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the update.

Could you please provide us the cast firmware version of your Google Nest Hub?

To check the firmware version:

  1. Make sure the mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the Google Nest or Home device.
  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3. Tap the device card of the preferred speaker or display.
  4. At the top-right, tap Settings Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under Technical information, find Cast firmware:X.XXX.XXXXX.

Best,

Princess

Thanks, it’s 1.56.295071

Yes! All sorted - there was also a nearby device that I did not realise had a mic on (a router, but one that also included the Google assistant) and that was confusing matters too! All fixed now.
