Cannot Remove Device from Google Home list

I have a device that I cannot remove or unlink from my Google Home list of devices. 

Google Assistant does not populate an option to delete the instance of the device and Unlinking through Google Home app has been ineffective

Try these steps:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Rooms and groups.
  • Tap the room the device was assigned to.
  • Tap the device.
  • Tap Remove device.

If those steps don't work, try these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap your photo or initials at the top right.
  3. Tap Assistant settings.
  4. Tap Devices.
  5. Tap the device.
  6. Tap Unlink this device.

Try these steps:

As stated in the original post these steps are ineffective.

  • There is no ‘Remove Device’ option. 

  • The ‘Unlink Service’ option brings up a services screen but the service has already been removed. 
    — I have added and removed the service and the device still remains in the library of devices.

Thanks for the troubleshooting steps, davidking!

 

We appreciate you doing those steps @TFOX48. Could you try creating a new home structure and moving your device there? Once done, delete the old home that you have. Let us know if that helps.

Tried this and technically this worked.

But a horrible user experience to have to move all devices to a new home
