Google Broadcast - not working

Hoffatron
Community Member

Broadcasting on my Google Devices used to work absolutely fine.

I’d say “Ok Google, Broadcast”, and then the message. We never had any problems.

When I now try it, with the same message, it replies “What’s the message?”. When I provide a message, it refuses to broadcast at all

It’s absolutely infuriating as it was our main use for the multiple Google Mini devices in our home.  I can see lots of others have had the same issue, but there doesn’t seem to be any reason for it or a consistent fix?

Any ideas if there is a new way to resolve this once and for all?

Hi @Hoffatron,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Google Broadcast is not working. Help's here!

Try the troubleshooting steps here:

  • Restart Devices: Reboot your Google Nest devices and the phone you use for voice commands. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Follow these steps to Reboot Google Nest or Home speaker or display.
  • Reinstall Google Home App: By reinstalling the Google Home app. This can clear any app-related issues.
  • Check Do Not Disturb: Do Not Disturb mode might be enabled on your devices, preventing broadcasts.
  • Permissions: Ensure all permissions are enabled for the Google Home app. Permissions allow the app to access necessary functions.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,
Melany

Google is broadcast is beyond broken still. The other thread has been locked even though you're still getting people telling you that it isn't working right.

Broadcast still sends the static pop instead of a the message, if it does send the message it is back to using the AI voice, it changes what you say so the message is none sense, it can't seem to understand anything that has a number in it, and if you try to use the app to broadcast it still doesn't work! This has been ongoing for months and it isn't getting better it's getting worse! Can we please get this feature fixed

Hi @Kaissandei,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I’m sorry to hear that the broadcast isn’t working on your Nest device. I'm here to help!

To better understand the situation, I’d like to ask a few questions:

  • What type of Nest device do you have?
  • What app are you using to broadcast?
  • Are you trying to broadcast music or videos?

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany

I have 13 minis a mix of gen 1 and 2 and 1 nest hub. I’m just trying to broadcast a voice message across my house, no video no music. I’ve tried using the google assistant iOS app to see if I typed it that it would broadcast correctly, it does not.

Hi @Kaissandei

Thanks for the follow-up information.

Currently, sending broadcasts to all Nest speakers and displays is no longer available. We're always looking for ways to improve and appreciate your feedback as it helps us continue improving our products to meet your needs.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Melany

Are you saying no longer available because it’s broken and being worked on or is this a feature that is permanently being removed? It’s kinda a deal breaker on this product.

Pardon? No longer available?  You need to clarify this.

In my very first post I mentioned ALL the things wrong with the broadcast function. It’s laid out in multiple threads also

I as well would like further explanation on "no longer available."  Like all the others, we used the broadcast feature ALL the time to communicate throughout the house.  It was a major reason we bought additional speakers in the past.  Now, the feature only works a FRACTION of the time.  Sometimes it broadcasts my actual voice message, sometimes it broadcasts the AI voice repeating my message, and sometimes it doesn't deliver the message at all, it'll just say "Broadcast".  So frustrating.
