Google Nest Hub "stuck" in Broadcast mode after broadcast.

Hey Google Home users - we have five Google Nest Hub (7" screen) devices and a couple of Nest Minis in our house. We use the Broadcast command quite a bit to summon our children from the basement/their room for meals or to begin homework, leave on trip, etc. Yes...we could always yell but what's the fun in that? 🙂

Anyway - recently my wife/I both notice that all of the Google Nest Hubs seem to get "stuck" in broadcast mode indefinitely unless one of us swipes the screen or says "Go Home" command. Broadcast works...we just are surprised it stays in that mode - is this something new or a glitch?

NOTED that there is another thread discussing this around Google Home Minis and I suspect it's the exact same issue:

Googe Mini Flashing Lights Issue

Hi StevieMG,

Thanks for reaching out. I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should. Were there any recent changes before it started? What steps have you taken so far? Try to reboot your Wi-Fi router and once the network is back

Juni

Having the same exact issue with broadcast. I'm also having the issue with the minis that you linked. I think the issue is related

Same problem.  Just recently is has gotten worse.  Now after broadcast the lights blink, but all the devices in the home become unresponsive to commands until they are manually rebooted.

Same problem. No known changes to our home network, but hub continues to get "stuck" on the broadcast screen. We've tried both rebooting and factory reset of the devices and nothing as resolved the issue.

Same here. We have to unplug to reboot them if we broadcast. Very annoying

Hello everyone,

I appreciate everyone's effort in trying some steps. If reset has been done, could you please provide the cast firmware version of your Google Nest speakers?

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings and then Device information.
  4. Under "Technical information," check for Cast firmware: "X.XXX.XXXXX." If the device is on Fuchsia, check for System firmware version: "X.XXXXXXXX.X.XXXXXXX"

Check the version on your Nest display

  1.  Swipe up from the bottom of the display screen.
  2. Tap Settings and then About device. You should find your "Cast firmware version."
    • For Nest Hub (1st gen) and Nest Hub Max: If “Fuchsia Version” is also listed, this means your device runs Fuchsia.

Looking forward to your responses.

Best,

Princess

It stays "stuck" in the broadcast mode until someone tells it to 'go home'

I realized a couple of days ago it seems to be working correctly now. I'll keep an eye on it just in case.

Confirming that all of our Nest Hubs seem to now be working correctly after a Broadcast - awesome!  It took a while to get this update but definitely appears to have fixed what "bugged" our devices.  Family is happy, now!
