Google Nest - Multiple Users' Voices for Same Google Account

Dwayne

I'd like to give my parents a Google Nest Audio for Christmas and have either parent be able to give commands. They have one Google account that they share for email and as the login to their Chromebook.

My understanding is that:

  • if I do Voice Match profiles for each parent then each parent needs their own Google account, each with its own contact list, Youtube Music Premium subscription, etc.

  • if I turn off Voice Match so that either parent can give commands, that also turns off Personal results, so my parents couldn't do something that requires access to the contact list such as "Call Dwayne."

Is there any way to have multiple users' voices access a single Google Account?

Your understanding is correct. The answer to your specific question is no, otherwise voice match wouldn't work properly. This help article explains how voice commands work when voice match is or is not used.

As an alternative, you can turn voice match off and turn personal results back on without voice match. This means both your parents (and anyone else that interacts with the device might I add) will be able to use features which require personal results to be turned on.
