Google mini nest cant be added to existing home group

This seems to be a common problem to what others are experiencing....

I have an existing Google Home setup with pre-nest devices. (Mixture of home, mini, and cast devices.) All this was working perfectly.

Ive just bought 3 new mini (nest) devices. They power up and connect to my network fine. They also show up in the home app as 'other cast devices'. What I'd like to do is create a new room and add the devices and add them to the appropriate groups. When I click the (one of the new devices) device, then click 'settings' the page is just blank. No settings are shown. There is an option to 'request invite to home' but when I click that it just fails to send any invite, consistently.

If I go through the options for rooms and groups - choose an existing room - then I cant see the new devices. If I choose the devices first I just get taken back to the page for the device settings, and the option that always fails for 'invite a home member'.

I could just ignore all of the nice features of rooms and groups and just use them as individual devices, EXCEPT even that does not work correctly. If I ask my kitchen device to play music then it also plays out of the new nest devices, which then has to be manually cancelled.

So it seems that the newer Nest devices are NOT compatible with older non-nest based home groups.

If there is a fix out there I'd appreciate the help, otherwise these devices are getting sent back.

Ive read around quite a lot to look for a solution. The only thing that I can see might be causing this is that my email account is a G-suite account. Huh? Is this how Google tries to get users to switch to standard G-mail accounts? Gradually prevent core functionality from working so you have to make the switch. I dont really plan to change my entire email and app usage just to be able to add more home devices, so if its cant be fixed it the end of the road for my spending on Google devices.

Really disappointing that it requires this much pain. ☹️

Same issues Here....

I had 3 speaker devices, and two speaker groups. (All Speakers and Outside Speakers). I used to be able to simply say "hey Google, play music on All Speakers or Outside Speakers" Somehow it all went sideways without my having done ANYTHING!. Trying to manage a speaker group ...the three devices are now under "Other Cast Devices" and say "Request Invite To Home" What is that? I am the only member of the only home. Where does the invite go? I never see it anywhere. I have tried deleting everything but can not set this up again as was. Best I can do is cast one speaker at a time now. I paid serious money for a Marshall Speaker with google assistant included as one of my speakers. Guess that's what I get for drinking the google koolaid. What a frustrating mess. They never leave well enough alone. Now I thinking I need to move to an all Alexa system. ugh!
