I purchased 10 of the Google nest mini ‘s 2nd generation for my grandchildren for Christmas. As of the time of this post only one of these has successfully updated and is working. All of the others go through the entire process and then it says there is an update but the update will never complete. Please advise on this issue because I have some very disappointed grandchildren. I have tried contacting Google to no avail. They are Experiencing extremely long white times according to their website. I’m guessing it has to do with all of these problems with the update issue.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having this issue. When you run into an error like this , the best first step is to do a quick factory reset just to see if that can "unclog" the problem. I am linking the instructions for you below, can you let me know if this works for you?

In all of my 40+ years both working as and talking to technical support reps, this is the very first time I've ever heard the ages-old "reboot/reset and pray" recommendation referred to as "unclogging" the problem. Congratulations! You are the winner of the 2021 "Innovation in Customer Support" award!

It’s definitely a problem in Googles software. This is only with the Google nest we purchased. The Google home mini we previously purchased did not have this issue.

I’ve done that several times and also re installed the Google home app but it still does the same thing. I’m returning all of them for a refund.

Okay , if you change your mind we can try more troubleshooting, it could be a range of things, but our of the box these should work. Once you got them setup did you check the preview program option ? Perhaps disabling that would be a good idea. Also checking wifi signal strength would be a good idea as well as network errors can cause issues too. Either way, just let us know.

I have returned them. I spent 3 days trying to get them to work. That was enough for me.

Hi there, just to notify that I'm having the same issue with my nest mini 2. Moreover, the nest mini is using a lot of my bandwidth even though it's just on idle mode. I wanted to update it to the latest firmware because of this (maybe this would fix the issue), but there is no way to do that in the Google Home app. Even with a factory reset, after re-adding to Google Home and reconnecting it to the wifi, it still doesn't ask to update it.
My nest current firmware is: 1.54.277099
The latest firmware is: 1.56.264660
Pretty disappointing for my first google nest device.

Having exactly the same issue as vizzinister (two Google minis 2 stuck to 1.54.277099 firmware version). Interestingly, my Lenovo clock is updated to latest version

I have the same issue and still google keeps bul**bleep**ting around. The mini 1 is fine. The 2nd one with the whole in the back for wallmounting is **bleep** and google refuses a solution.
