Home mini no longer repeating commands

When I say hey Google put the kettle on, it use to say 'okay turning on the kettle'. But now it just makes a sound and turns it on. 

How can I get the speech back?

Apparently, Google Nest recently made a change where Google Nest responds without repeating commands in some cases, apparently in response to customer requests:

And it seems they just made the change without making it a customer option to repeat or not repeat the command.

Thanks for the reply. I can stop trying to fix it now. Would have been nice to have a choice as I liked it repeating.
