Over the past 2 weeks I've noticed that the Google Home Minis (5 of them) throughout my house frequently have four pulsing white lights. This is not the result of someone saying anything remotely close to "Hey Google" or "Ok Google" and it is not the result of an errant broadcast.
I've noticed that it even happens when I'm the only one home and haven't said a word.
I've done the whole unplug and reset routine. Why are they all suddenly listening???

Hello everyone,
We have some great news to share! Our team found a fix for this issue, and we're happy to see that some of you have already confirmed that your devices function normally now.
For those users who are still experiencing the same issues, we kindly ask for your continued patience as the update is gradually being rolled out to everyone.
Cheers,
Muddi

Same issue for me as well. Two hubs stay on reply, and the mini LEDs pulse

Same issue in Ontario, Canada. I have 9 Google minis, all of them slowly pulse the 4 white lights as if it is listening. I asked “Hey Google, why are your lights on?” And got a reply that said “I don’t understand.” Then the lights go off, but come back on randomly later. They all work fine, but my wife wants me to get rid of them because she thinks they are listening. It has been weeks since this was brought up, you would think Google could fix it faster.

All of ours do this every day. I'm not sure, but I think it's prompted by the broadcast we make at dinner. So annoying when we go to bed and all the lights are flashing.
07-28-2023 06:23 AM
Ours do it whether we broadcast or not

"Hey Google...Blink continuously if you want to be replaced with Alexa."

@Muddi are Google engineers aware of this issue or is this just an ongoing discussion on this message board? Seems pretty straightforward that Home, Mini's, Audio's and other Google devices exhibit the same pulsing behavior after a broadcast but I'm not sure if Google is actually aware of the problem. Can you confirm that engineers are working on a fix? I'm happy to keep sending feedback via my devices but it's been the same "audio/mini/home lights continously pulsing after broadcast" for weeks now.

Lights on mini constantly pulsing is still happening.... weeks after its been reported.
The bug seem's seems to have been created when Google tried to fix a bug with the broadcast feature. Honestly, we are on the verge of getting rid of our Google's, they have been bug ridden lately.

Have to agree, I think they are killing Google Home off. These issues should have been found in system testing.

Every single Google mini speaker in my house has been doing this for 3 weeks. We often broadcast using the Google home system, so it is possible that there is a bug and that after a broadcast is sent, the lights Strobe endlessly into oblivion.
I also had two Nest Gen3 thermostats die on me recently, and my wife's Pixel 7 Pro has an audio feature that Google hasn't been able to fix.
I am souring on Google products. Not happy

Yep, all my speakers right now are flashing 4 white lights (nest audio and nest minis).

I have 12 minis, a mix of gen 1 and 2, and one display. Minis are all having the same issues as everyone one else. Same firmware. Rebooting doesn’t help.

I have a Google Home and 6 minis. It is the same story everyone tells. If I broadcast, all other speakers will broadcast the message and the lights will pulse on all the devices that received the board cast. You can stop it by simply issuing the Hey Google, Stop command or rebooting the device. Rebooting doesn't help. Resetting the device doesn't help and the Continuing Conversation was never on. Flipping it on and then back off again also produced no change. I'm hoping they put out a new firmware update to fix this soon. I will say that before this issue popped up, when devices played a broadcast before, the lights would pulse but stop as soon as the message was finished. It is almost like there is no 'END' function at the end of a successful broadcast.

PLEASE- send feedback on the minis when the lights are pulsing.
Simply say, into each one "Hey Google, send feedback" then when prompted "mini lights are still flashing"

Google keeps trying to lock thrust thread when what they need to do it roll out a patch. Until that happens we’re going to keep responding so google doesn’t lock this.
08-01-2023 07:54 AM
Right, fix the issue Google!
08-01-2023 07:45 PM
Still having the blinking lights after the broadcast and already checked continue conversation is off. Happening on all my google devices, home, minis and display..

Having the same issue as many others are describing. After I issue a broadcast command, the broadcast begins immediately on all Google minis (I have 8 in my home) while at the same time, the device I am giving the command to says “got it, broadcasting now”. After the broadcast all minis in the house show the glowing lights and won’t turn off until I interact with one of the units. My “continued conversation” slider is turned off and resetting all devices has not resolved the issue. This has been ongoing for more than a month and is becoming increasingly frustrating!

I too noticed that the minis will broadcast before my specific speaker that I'm talking to will tell me that it's got the message and will broadcast.
I'm also noticing that when I broadcast from my Google Pixel 6 Pro that the minis only pick up and relay half the message. It seems like the first part of the message is missing.

Ok, so here's a fresh spin on this, my minis and hub are all getting stuck in the endless broadcast bug.
But, I realised that the hub was not going into sleep mode, EVER, so the screen is on full brightness even at night.
Therefore the device is not entering low power mode when not being used.
A quick Google reveals a mini has 0.5W difference between normal and standby mode, not much you say....
But there are 55 million Google home devices worldwide!
That's 27.5MW of excess power usage while this bug is active.
So much for green credentials eh?

@Princesss I see above that you were asking if its ok to lock the thread. I am sure that you seen all the responses stating "Im having the same issue". Please do not close the thread so the full scope can be realized by Google and "the right team" working on this actually publishes a fix. Not sure if a patch went out, but my speakers (home and mini) recently became totally unresponsive requiring a power cycle. Yes, pulsing still happening 😞
08-03-2023 06:42 AM
I was coming to report the same thing. A few of my minis stay blinking and will not respond and have to reboot them. It seems the bug it getting worse. When minis do respond they are slow and sluggish. But it’s probably because of them stuck in whatever mode they are in. Even simple tasks like turn off the lights. It makes the chime but doesn’t actually turn off the light and I have to get a device and open the app to turn off the lights.

If Google isn’t going to fix this issue, will they allow us to downgrade the software on our devices to before they created this bug?
08-03-2023 08:05 AM
Sadly, you will find that the staff will attempt to lock the thread as, I assume, there are internal metrics which incentivise them to demonstrate that issues are resolved and they succumb to this and try and lock threads which are far from resolved. I have been here before with Google initiated problems and their playbook tends to be;
Dont admit any fault
Repeatedly suggest activities that don't really solve the issue but keep users occupied
Repeatedly request more feedback
Meanwhile, I assume that Devs are working on a fix and this will just be released and the issue will go away with Google not admitting to anything.
I guess a campaign of posting about this issue on social media may incentivise Google to expedite a solution because that might hurt their brand reputation.
Other than that we will just have to wait.
It would be preferable if they just admitted there is a bug and that Devs are working on it and it will be around X weeks for a fix to come out rather than actively wasting users time with distractions.

Same issue here, happening on all minis, I'm also on the preview program.
System firmware version: 356012
Cast firmware: 1.56.35601 2

I am experiencing the same issue. Pulsing lights. Not sure when it started but I noticed it about 2 weeks ago (mid July 2023). I have unplugged it several times with no change. After reading this thread I checked my app and the "Continued Conversation" setting is already off.
08-04-2023 06:17 AM
Mine is doing this also. When they are stuck in this mode they do not send the broadcasts that go out until after you ask if there are any reminders or notifications. This is frustrating since this cripples the functionality of the devices. No resets have helped.
08-04-2023 01:31 PM
Here in Belgium, i have this on all my devices as well. I reset them, and it keeps coming back. Very annoying
08-04-2023 03:42 PM
I have this issue
08-04-2023 05:34 PM
The problem is still present, on Mini and Nest Audio! The light stays on and the broadcast function needs to be fixed!! Please google do something!!!!
08-05-2023 01:29 PM
System firmware version: 356012
Cast firmware: 1.56.356012
Language: en-GB
Same pulsing of lights after receiving a broadcast message
08-07-2023 01:41 PM
i just wanted to add that the same thing is happening to all my nest minis, and also resets do not help it.

I've noticed that for more than a month we have had this problem. It's really annoying at night because it wakes me up. But what's even more unnerving is thinking you're being listened to all the time. I'm really thinking of getting rid of everything Google. I think with all the sensoring Google has been doing on YouTube and Chrome search results I've completely lost confidence in its safety and security for my home with Google Inc.
08-07-2023 08:15 PM
I see lots of Community Members here but do Google employees monitor GoogleNestCommunity? I've been providing feedback for several weeks via my devices but at a minimum I'd like to see a Google engineer give an update here that SOMEONE is working on a solution and the units are not spying / listening / collecting data.
08-07-2023 09:47 PM
I have been having the same issue now for weeks. An update from and engineer would be nice.
08-08-2023 09:41 AM
Same issue here. Has been like this for around 4 to 5 weeks now. Hard reset has not resolved
08-08-2023 11:11 AM
I have noticed that all my mini including the new and old. Mini is doing it I also have a nest hub, Max and a nest hub and I've never seen them do it with their display
08-08-2023 01:33 PM
I have had the same issue. I turned the continued conversation option off, then rebooted all 5 speakers and then turn the conversation back on. So far it seems to have worked.
08-08-2023 01:41 PM
I feel like it's probably just a glitch with the minis and nothing's really happening. I don't have no idea what's going on. It's a little bit frustrating and honestly could care less
08-10-2023 03:32 AM
happens on my Google home also. just 4 colored lights pulsing instead
