Neat Cam Monitoring

Cvan

Hi, I have over the last 36 hours been having issues with the nest cam monitoring on my Hub Max. I currently pay for the subscription for the 30 day video recording history.

Every minute or so, the display will show the notification "Nest Cam Monitoring Off" and then a few brief seconds later will show "Nest Cam Monitoring". The green camera light also turns off during this period.  I'm not sure it's internet-related as the monitoring should continue if it disconnects (and I'm pretty sure our wifi doesn't drop out every minute).  I am concerned that someone else has logged into my camera and is constantly viewing footage?…is this possible or is it just the unit malfunctioning?

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Hey folks,

My apologies for the delays. We appreciate all your efforts in updating the thread with the issue. Please provide the current firmware and system version of your devices:

  1.  Swipe up from the bottom of the display screen.
  2. Tap Settings > About device. You should find your "Cast firmware version."
    • For Nest Hub (1st gen) and Nest Hub Max: If “Fuchsia Version” is also listed, this means your device runs Fuchsia.

Also, it is best if you could send feedback on your device once you noticed the issue. Please say,"Hey Google, send feedback," followed by the keywords: "GHT3 Nest Cam Monitoring." This will help the team to further investigate the issue.

Let us know once done.

Cheers,

Muddi

So to be honest, after my last reboot. My max has been stable so far. No monitoring on and off messages, or camera unavailable on the nest and Google home app.

Fuchsia version is at 10.2022107.120

Software at 51.0.24.513642888

Firmware is at 1.68.353511

So not sure if the issue resolved on the front end or back end.

Yes. That's exactly what it is. That's what happens when you layoff a major potion of your customer support staff...

Agree this all started happening to me after an update in february.

Is there a refund process? My nest subscription has just renewed but obviously not been usable for most of this year.

Hey all! Has anyone else noticed that the camera works as of yesterday? Mine has all of a sudden began to stream video and it’s still doing so today. I wonder if they pushed a backend fix to their monitoring service these past 24 hours. Would love to hear from others. Thanks!

Mine also seems to be working today. I’m going to keep an eye on it, but let’s just hope that this issue was resolved once and for all. Seems to be fine right now. Cross fingers.

Mine is also working today we shall see if it lasts.

Well thats me back to normal intermittent on and of.

It would appear that the issue may have been resolved. We would all like to hear from Google to acknowledge that there was in fact an issue and how they have resolved it.

To be honest mine is no longer exhibiting those symptoms either. I just wish Google would confirm/acknowledge the fix.

Mine still isn’t working. Did you need to remove it from the “home” and re-add it?

Yes had to create a new home and delete the original.

I did not maneuver any device removal/adding. But somehow my software was updated.

On June 20, 2023 it was:

  -Fuchsia Version: 10.20221207.2.120

  -Software version: 51.0.24.513642888

  -Chromecast firmware version: 1.68.353511

But today, July 12, 2023 it's:

  -Fuchsia Version: 11.20230306.3.134

  -Software version: 52.94.19.536300690

  -Chromecast firmware version: 1.69.362882

So, all that software updating probably is a factor.

I would add, though, that the green light is now solid all the time. I think this correlates to a new feature where I've allowed it to "recognize" me. This must mean it's constantly sensing faces, which requires it to have the camera active all the time. I think probably this whole problem was related to that feature.

Too late. I unsubscribed from nest aware when my year long subscription expired since I was not receiving the service I was paying for. I might consider resubscribing if I receive a refund for the several months of service I paid for but did not receive due to this bug.
