Nest hub max no security controls

Why is there no way to lock access to settings?  Anyone that can get to the hub can view any of my photos or other personal  / private information.
This seems ridiculous am I missing something?

BTW the iOS is irrelevant

Hi Garneke,

Thanks for posting.

When you turn on personal results for your Smart Display, results appear on your home screen as notifications. Results include upcoming calendar events, commute info, and YouTube video recommendations. Anyone near the device can view, tap, or act on them.

To stop personal results on the home screen and as notifications:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. At the bottom, tap Home Home.
  3. Touch and hold your Smart Display.
  4. At the top right, tap Device settings Settings and then Recognition & sharing and then Recognition & Personalization.
  5. Under "How personal results appear," select Never show proactively.

Hope this helps!

Best,

Princess

Yes, thanks.  I guess I am most bothered by the fact that anyone can browse my photos.  I would love to cycle some selected photos but I do not want my photos library available for public viewing.  Public in this case being anyone within touching distance of the hub.

Hi Garneke,

Thanks for responding.

We understand that there are certain photos you'd like to share for public viewing only. While this feature is not available, we’d like to encourage you to send a feedback for any features that you’re looking forward to using with our Google Nest devices.

Best,

Princess

Hi Garneke,

Chiming in to check if you still need help with this? Hope the previous post answered your question, otherwise I’ll be locking the thread.

Might as well close it - I was hoping I was missing something.  You can't do anything these days with out multifactor authentication or other controls.  I was just surprised and disappointed at how unprotected my personal data was on this device.

btw - I attempted to give feedback like you suggested but of course the device I want to give feedback for is not listed in the home app and I am just kinda tired of fighting with google apps.   They don't care anyway.

Hi Garneke,

I appreciate your honest feedback. I'll make sure to let the team know about this and as everyone else, we're also looking forward for other features to be available in the future.

I'll consider this post complete and will lock the thread in 24 hours. Feel free to start a new thread if you need any assistance with your Google Nest speakers.

Best,

Princess
