The insignia speaker in question is probably four or five years old.
The speaker has Google assistant on it. Just recently unable to set an alarm. Google response to trying to set alarm “sorry what’s the day and time”. This feature has worked fine for years.
The Google assistant responds to all other function as it has in the past.
I have reset the speaker, reinstalled it on Google Home, restarted Wi-Fi, etc.
Any assistance is appreciated

Hey folks,
Thanks for visiting the Community.
Sorry to hear that you're having issues setting up an alarm on your Insignia speakers. Please note that we have very limited support for third-party speakers with built-in Google Assistants. Since rebooting and resetting the device did not resolve the issue, it is best to reach out to Insignia Support for better assistance.
Cheers,
Muddi

I had 2 one was large with a battery and great sound while the other was a small one. I replaced them both with Google hubs but didn't toss others in hopes an update may fix them.

Same problem as everyone else tried factory resetting and adding to home again. They aren't that old to be made obsolete by an update already.
11-28-2023 07:41 PM
Same as everyone else. Everything was fine with my insignia smart speakers until about mid November and now I can't set alarms no matter what I do.

same issue just started few days ago on insignia speaker.

As others of stated in this thread, just say "set an alarm for the day after today for xxxx time" or skip the time part of that and it will ask you for the time. It works just as before with the time showing up on the screen and "AL" lit up as well, just being activated with a different command now. Stupid, yes, but bottom line, everyone can still use these as their alarm clocks until hopefully a revert to being able to use the word "tomorrow" again.

For those that need it as an alarm - you can set a recurring alarm by saying "set a recurring alarm from Monday - Friday at 8:00AM" as a work around.

I was able to find two solutions/workarounds.
Tell Google “set an alarm” google will ask “for when” you can say date and the time then it’ll work. (seeing today/tomorrow will also work)
The second is if you set it up as an automation within the app.

I saw someone had posted a work around on this….and it worked. “Hey Google, set alarm for xxx am weekdays”. It worked perfectly. May be added commands to clear it each morning, but better than replacement of these cool little clocks.

Nope, this doesn't work.
11-30-2023 08:21 AM
Ditto from me. Shame, I really liked the design of this speaker with both time and temperature nicely viewable at night. I'll use workaround for a while and wait to see; Thanks to all for making this visible to Google.

Have 2 doing the same thing, made the mistake of hard resetting them. Now can't complete setup. I can use the Device Utility app to find them and add them to a room, but when I get to the "Connect to wifi" step, it fails....Now these things are worthless. Anyone else tried resetting them and able to set them up?
11-30-2023 05:54 PM
I have the same problem after a hard reset as I mentioned in my work around to the original problem, above. I have tried many ways to fix this, including connecting to the Insignia internal network NS-CSPGASP... I can never get past the connecting to WiFi step. Fortunately I only hard reset one of my speakers.

Started having the issue around the same time. At least I know I'm not crazy now that I've found this thread.
Funny because I was just thinking about how much use I've gotten out of this speaker, was perfect because it had the time and temp display and was nicely designed. Hope this can be solved, must be a Google side thing as Insignia is out of business, and it seems to have cropped up on other older 3rd party Google Assistant devices.

Same issue. Love the speaker itself as it serves such a nice purpose on the nightstand. Thanks for the workarounds, even though it's awkward I'm glad I found this thread. 🙂

So I think I may have found a work around for my own insignia clock. I had issues with setting an alarm when I told the clock to set it "Tomorrow" or a specified date like "Dec 3".
Then I was successful at setting the alarms when I did it two ways:
Not really a great solution but I hope it's a temporary fix until someone comes up with a better way.
12-02-2023 01:25 PM
Instead of "tomorrow" say "the day after today"
12-02-2023 08:23 PM - edited 12-02-2023 08:27 PM
WE FOUND A WORKAROUND. Tell it to set an alarm for EVERY DAY AT whatever time you want. It will do that. It just no longer understands days of the week. It can only understand "today", not "tomorrow." So if it is after midnight, it will understand "Set an alarm for today at 6am." But if it is before midnight, we say "set an alarm every day for 6am" then after 6am... we say "cancel all alarms" to clear them out for future ones. Then you can do another "every day" alarm for your next morning's time(s).
AND THANK YOU to those above for the additional suggestions. I just read them after posting this and many will tie us over for now. That is great!

I just bought a couple Nest Hubs to upgrade no workaround needed. I won't have to be concerned with later updates from Google messing it up more.
12-02-2023 08:36 PM
Glad to hear it. We decided against that option, because we are looking to keep the simplicity of screen and brightness to a minimum. We use our Insignia speaker in our bedroom and love how dim it is for those late night wake-up sessions. It helps us fall asleep faster with just the LCD numbers.
12-02-2023 09:02 PM - edited 12-02-2023 09:04 PM
That's why I like hub it's dimmer than my insignia. I can barely see clock in dark room until my eyes adjust and there is even option to have screen off at night or if want brighter like insignia can do that also. That was my worry when buying it and was surprised how much better it was. There is also additional sleep and sunrise functions to turn on if needed.
12-02-2023 11:08 PM
I'm glad we both have what we like. The Insignia has a dimmer setting, so I do enjoy that only the LCD numbers show rather than an entire screen. It is good to have options that suit our preferences.
12-03-2023 07:46 AM - edited 12-03-2023 07:53 AM
Yes I have mine set to only show numbers as well instead of entire screen. Impressed by Hubs options. I like how it's dimmer than insignias dim setting as well. It is too dim to see when room lights are on so when lights are on screen turns on so you can see it.

Sane issue, temp work around for now but setting it for the "day after tomorrow"

Same problem. I've been using both Amazon and Google devices for years. If Google doesn't fix this soon, it will make my decision of which platform to use very simple.
12-04-2023 10:20 PM
We also use and love both. They "know" different things, so we like having both. The workarounds above are super manageable. "Tomorrow" is simply "the day after today" or you can use "every day" or name the specific weekday "Tuesday".... nothing insurmountable for us in order to keep using one of our favorite products. We knew it couldn't last forever since the Insignia app shut down and the product was discontinued. This will buy us some time though.
12-04-2023 11:30 PM
Same thing with me!! Glad I'm not the only one with this issue
12-05-2023 05:16 AM - edited 12-05-2023 05:17 AM
Still having the same problem like everyone else but I noticed a new one pop up. Everytime my speaker does a routine now, it announces every step. So like I have a routine to turn off lights downstairs and in the pantry so it will say "turning off down stairs, turning off pantry" when before it wouldn't say anything. Please fix this already Google. It was not insignia that caused this problem since they haven't pushed out any updates in years.

To all the folk posting so called 'workarounds' such as:
12-06-2023 01:43 PM
Set an alarm for X days after today.
07-31-2024 09:45 PM
Actually no option whatsoever mentioned here works. Possibly if they did at one time maybe Google found a way to prevent them from working. I think they just want us to buy their products.
12-06-2023 01:44 PM
I would like to remind Google that in Maine at least, products have an implied 4-year warranty, that requires the retailer and the manufacturer together to make good any defects for 4 years.
I know my insignias are probably older than 4 years but your legal department should be aware of these laws when Google feels they can just break existing products due to "limited support" or "no longer supported".
12-06-2023 01:49 PM
Received this from Best Buy support:
As per checking, Insignia has discontinued this product model. As this products have reached End of Life and are no longer being supported, there will be no future firmware or driver updates.
Given the issues you are experiencing, please try the word combination of "set alarm for the the day after today at..." And then provide a time. It will also set if you say 2 days after today or something similar. As soon as you give a specific calendar day or just a time it will not work.
12-07-2023 10:15 PM
same thing here. and i can no longer set a reminder. when i ask it to set a reminder 2 days from now, it thinks it will be January 4, 1970.

I feel like I got my money's worth with these speakers over the years, so buying a replacement wouldn't kill me. But I have two of these in my bedroom to also act as stereo speakers. They are bound together for stereo and as others have stated have pretty good sound. My issue is what to replace them with to get the same stereo experience? Anyone have any experience with a Google speaker that has a similar sound quality and stereo option?
12-10-2023 09:26 AM
Sorry to threadcrapping. But I personally will not buy another Google device.
12-10-2023 10:13 AM
Google first party devices still work fine. Third party insignia devices don't. Insignia stopping support is why their device no longer works. Google can't be responsible when 3rd party devices no longer make changes to support advancements and updates.
12-09-2023 02:44 PM
"hey Google, set a timer for 8hrs"
-decent work around for now but I hate it
12-10-2023 09:43 AM
If you read through this thread there are a couple better workarounds by using "weekdays" or "Day after today" in your alarm command. The thread moderator needs to flag one of those posts a the "Best answer" instead of the worthless one tagged.

hello,
I have the exact same issue, please let me know how you were able to set the alarm again.
thank you 🙏
