Same songs keep getting repeated when playing YouTube Music in my Nest Hub

aripstein

I ask Google Home to play a song from a specific artist, beging with the songs... after 3 or 4 the same songs repeat...

I am using my  YouTube Music subscription.

Removing the device in Google home and doing a hard reset has helped I think. Then adding it back in.

This helps.. for about an hour. Then it returns to repeat.

Google YouTube and Google home support is aware of this. Can I suggest you all log an issue through them as nothing gets done on the forum posts.

Where do you go to log an issue to them?  Thanks!

Open the

YouTube mobile app.

In the top right, tap your profile picture.

Tap Help & feedback.

Tap Send feedback.

Describe the issue you're experiencing.

Select if you want to automatically include screenshots and logs.

In the top right, tap Send.

i have done the same in the google home app

they are oddly not monitoring these threads - I did copy a link to it though

i did copy

Haha I did this and the person on the other end directed me to this forum.

Judging by the long email conversation I had with them, they are not.

I don't see how submitting feedback in the YouTubeMusic app on a phone is going to help anyone. The issue arises when using a human voice to talk to an Assistant device, phone or app on phone are nothing to do with it.

It is specific to the YouTube music algorithm. All other services and applications work perfectly (Spotify, free fm apps). It was recommended to report the problem to YouTube services using this method. The current forum is only a help forum. I was told google does not look at these forums as problem tickets. I have reported this via google and YouTube apps for them to escalate. The confirmed this is what they use. It’s unfortunate as a massive corporation they are not taking these forums more seriously

Just so I'm sure I understand, you're saying that this issue needs to be sent to YouTube, not Google?

YouTube = Google

That's part of why I'm asking

Brit124

I sent it to both with a description of treatment and copied and pasted this forum

I certainly hope it helps, thanks

It is specific to the YouTube music algorithm ON A GOOGLE ASSISTANT DEVICE, not the algorithm in the YTM app.

Perhaps Google support use magic to tell that feedback in one refers to a problem on the other, but I'm not continuing to pay subscription money for that tiny chance.

For what it's worth, it seems like I was able to fix this on my 2nd gen Nest Hub and Minis. After having experienced this issue for many weeks like all of you and coming very close to cancelling my account (would have but transferring playlists to Spotify seems like a hassle).

In the Home app on my Android device, I changed my music provider to "no default provider" (Settings/ Services/ Music) and then changed it back immediately to YouTube Music and it has been working fine ever since.

I don't know if it will revert back but it's been fine for a few days now...

Hope this helps / works for someone else...

Your solution is WORKING so far!

Just a heads up.. it might not be that particular reason. Mine just started working out of the blue for no reason.

I tried this and it appears to have worked.

For now

It could just be because it's finally fixed.. I didn't do this method in mine's finally working too

For absolutely no reason last night, I had no repeats for 2+ hours. I simply asked it to play music, no specifics, and amazingly, it did. Don't know if it's a fluke or if it's fixed.. but here's hoping.

I was able to get continuous music last night with no repeats. I was almost too scared to stop the music!! Ha!! I’m going to try again now while getting dressed to see if it’s still fixed. If not, back to Apple Music I go…

ive had same problem for 3 weeks now, i disabled the queue as well i noticed my google assistant was turned back on on my samsung phone, when i asked the speaker to play music it would but it also would on the phone. I turned off the assistant on my phone and everything back to normal, has been working flawlessly since, not sure if this was the problem but works now! im also using the Klipsch smart speaker

So 2 work arounds that seem to work for me.

1) Say 'hey google play supermix' - this loads the supermix playlist from youtube and doesn't seem to have the problem

2) Connect your phone to the wifi network the speaker is one and play from there.  It connects automatically for me, but YMMV - running through the youtube music app seems to avoid the problem.

Not very convenient, but better than nothing.

Mine appears to be OK now after listening to Simon and Garfunkel for months on end. I used to like them but now I hate them! I didn't do anything to fix the problem, it fixed itself.

I have this problem on as well my Google mini nest speaker as on my Xiaomi Mi speaker.

Also the problem does not occur when I use Spotify.

Once it did not repeat again, but the day after it started repeating again.

The problem is obvious related to a problem between Youtube Music in connection to Hey Google.

It's been several months now!

Some users encountered the same problem even longer.

The suggestion marked as solution in this topic is also false.

It happens as well when I ask Google to play a certain artist, genre or song.

Nik3

It's not specifically related to Google Nest.

It happens here with my mini nest and on my Xiaomi mi speaker.

It happens with free YouTube Music accounts and premium accounts.

With Spotify the problem does not occur.

It's time Google and YouTube work together to offer a solution.

Same problem here - weeks of having YT Music stuck in loop of 2-3 songs, on all our devices. If this isn’t fixed soon we will be seeking refunds on all the hardware as it isn’t fit for purpose - that’s quite a few nests and home hubs that we will want our money back on.

I don't want to be unplolite, but "hang tight"...?

It's been since August people ask for a solution and so far nobody of the Google nest team shared what has already been tried.

What do you mean by "the right people"? Who did you contact?

Last time I checked the team of YouTube was not being contacted for this issue.

Thank you for keeping us better informed in the future.

has your team figured out a solution for this yet?

Not quite an "answer"; looping the same chunk of songs shouldn't take over two months from your "answer" to fix. Any actual updates?

All of the old problems that took years to fix are back. This issue (repeating a handful of songs), skips to the last song in a playlist and stops, only plays around 20 songs when casting from my phone unless I scroll through the entire playlist before casting, etc.

we are still hanging tight since November 😛

Hi Juni. Any updates on this issue? Listening to a song for the 4th time in an hour despite playlist having over 150 songs. Forcing us to stop using YT music.

I understand it's frustrating to have the same songs repeat on YouTube Music on your Nest Hub. Here are some steps you can try to fix the issue:

Basic Troubleshooting:

  1. Restart your Nest Hub and router: Power down both devices for a minute and then restart them one at a time. This can clear temporary glitches.
  2. Check for firmware updates: Ensure your Nest Hub and YouTube Music app are on the latest versions. Updates often include bug fixes.
  3. Verify shuffle settings: Make sure shuffle is enabled for the current playlist or radio station. You can say "Hey Google, shuffle on" or check the YouTube Music app settings.
  4. Clear your listen history: Sometimes past listening data can influence recommendations. Try clearing your history in the YouTube Music app.

Advanced Troubleshooting:

  1. Disable personalized recommendations: In the YouTube Music app, go to Settings > Privacy & Settings > Playback > Turn off "Use playback history to personalize recommendations."
  2. Change playback settings: Experiment with different playback options like "Repeat single song," "Repeat all," or "Off" to see if it affects repetition.
  3. Try playing different content: Play a different playlist, station, or album to see if the issue persists across different content.
  4. Check your WiFi connection: Ensure your Nest Hub has a strong WiFi connection. Weak signal can sometimes cause playback issues.

Additional Tips:

  • Create a custom playlist: Instead of relying on recommendations, create your own playlist with a variety of songs.
  • Explore curated playlists: YouTube Music offers various curated playlists based on genres, moods, and activities.
  • Use the "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" features: Let YouTube Music know what you like and dislike to improve its recommendations.

If none of these solutions work, consider contacting YouTube Music support for further assistance. They might be able to offer more specific help based on your account and device information.

Always the same BS !

No, you can't do anything to solve this, this is a Youtube problem !

You can do what you want from your list, the problem always comes back in a few days as it has since last summer !

Until Youtube/Google fixes the problem there are no solutions so please stop spreading the same BS over and over again in those threads. We want a real YouTube solution !
