Speaker playing when no one is home

I haven't heard anything about the 2 issues I am having. 1 mini was playing music when I came home and no one was home. My other mini keeps saying speaker is off and shows yellowish orange lights. Tried rebooting both speakers and nothing is working

Hi Hazel,

Thanks for reaching out.

Sorry to hear about this. Let's go ahead and sort things out one by one. On your first concern, I'd like to know if there are other account linked to your devices? If not, are there other people connected to the same Wi-Fi network where your Google Home Mini is connected? Let's go ahead and try this setting:

To prevent others on your Wi-Fi network to control your media casting, you can turn off Cast media control notifications on your Chromecast or your speaker or display.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile and then tap Settings Settings and then Recognition & sharing.
  3. Turn Let others control your cast media off.

With regards to your second concern, since you're done rebooting the device, let's perform a complete reset and let's see if that would make any changes.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Princess

Thank you for the help. Fixed the first issue by fixing the settings. The other speaker the reset did not fix the problem. I believe the speaker has gone bad. It just keeps saying the mic is off no matter which way the button is set.

Hi Hazel,

Thanks for the update. Glad that it's already working now. Regarding your other speaker, do you still remember when and where did you purchase that so we can check your warranty options?

I got the speaker as a gift 2 or 3 years ago from Target.
