When broadcasting a spoken message, there's a delay between the chime and the message

Hi,

for years my Google Home Mini's behaved perfectly fine when using "Ok Google, broadcast (some message)". The other Mini's would play a chime and immediately play (some message) after that.

For a while now, that is no longer the case. They still play the chime right after giving the broadcast command (on a different mini), but then there is a 5 to 10 second delay before they play the actual message.

This is very annoying. How can I fix this?

It's obviously not a connectivity issue, as they do all other functions fine (streaming audio from the internet, answering questions, etc.), and they got the command to play the chime just fine, they just don't play the message in time.

If there IS some systemic delay, please patch the software so the chime only sounds when the mini is ready to play the message.

Hello Paul321,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Sorry to hear that you're having issues with broadcasting using your Google Home Mini. Let's get this sorted out. How often does it happen? How far are your devices from your router?

Please follow the steps below that may help up fix the issue:

  1. Move your speakers within 15-20 ft. away from the router to get enough signal from your network.
  2. Reboot your Google Home Mini and router by disconnecting them from the power source and leave them unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals.
  3. Check if your devices will have the same behavior.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,
Muddi
