When I say "Hey Google. Watch ABC on Kitchen TV" (My Chromecast w/Google TV), Google responds with "YouTube TV isn't installed at the moment" and it launches YTTV on the TV from the Play Store, where I have to option to open YTTV.
Previously, this command would have launched YTTV & switched to the requested channel. I have the same issue with Hub (Gen2) & TV in my office

Hey folks,
I see your messages and I apologize for the delay. This is still actively being worked on by the team, I don't have any other information to provide at this moment. I'm going to pin this response as the "answer" so other folks can see the acknowledgement if they visit the thread.
Thank you for the patience,

Is there a solution for this?
10-06-2024 06:32 AM
Short answer, no. Long answer, researching class action lawsuit.

Still broken for me as well, tried it this morning, same error message no app installed at the moment. Funny thing is it works just fine if you use the remote control for the TV, which in my case is a Sony Smart TV.

Hi. This is not a real answer. Any plans to fix this issue? This is affecting people with disabilities who can't manage a remote. Please fix it.
10-17-2024 06:35 AM
Mine is working TODAY!!!
10-17-2024 08:32 AM
It also worked for me this morning for the first time in months.
10-21-2024 09:27 AM
noooooo
Ok cool
08-22-2024 10:11 AM
Admitting that it is still broken and you have not yet fixed it is 100% NOT AN ANSWER.
Fix the problem, then mark this accordingly.

This is still happening.. My Google Assistant says" YouTube TV isn't installed at the moment" And on the television it brings up YouTube TV APP with the open and uninstall button ( it IS installed)...what is the fix please? This has been going on For OVER A MONTH?
08-26-2024 01:55 PM
6 Weeks, and we still have no idea what is going on. Imagine taking your car to a mechanic and getting this kind of treatment. THEN, think about how a multi-trillion dollar company is doing it.
08-27-2024 02:31 AM
It just worked for me on my "Good Morning" routine!!!!!!!!
Luck or has it been fixed?
08-27-2024 05:25 AM
my morning routines still failed for this. I cannot comment on if it was luck or fixed for a second, only that it is still not working for me.
08-27-2024 07:14 AM
If I ask Google Home to “play YouTube TV” on …. TV” it works.
But if I try “play CNN on … TV” it says “YouTube TV not installed”
08-27-2024 07:41 AM
Exactly the same here. Used to work just fine for years, now..nada

Well this must be a virus that is spreading to Pandora... Now when I ask my Google Speaker to Play xxxxxx, it replies "Found xxxxxx station on Pandora".. Then 10 seconds later it says... "Something went wrong. When you are ready, give it another try. I tried going to my Pandora App on an iPhone connected to the home Wifi... and the station plays there... then I try to cast it to my Google Speaker (Mini)... The Google Speaker gives a "Dong" noise... then total silence. Google Home thinks it is busy playing my station... but there's nothing.. I tried all 4 of my Minis with the same result.

I don't recall if I posted this in my initial post, but now Google Assistant isn't working with "Smart Life". I have scenes/routines setup that used to work & now I get "I don't understand", from Google Assistant.
WTF? Google.

Hello All, I wanted to remind everybody to stay within the Google Help Communities Content Policy. As such, I feel that the response from @kelanfromgoogle violates the Irrelevant Content clause in said policy and have reported it. Please feel free to do the same if you feel the same way, or to any post in this forum. It is important that all communication be relevant, especially those posted as answers. For context, here is the language from that clause:

Here's the dumb thing...I have a Google TV ...if I ask the smart assistant on my nest home mini to "play CNN on yttv" I get "sorry yttv is not available at the moment"... If however I pick up the TCL remote and press the Google "assistant" button and ask the same question it works properly.... So again.. I have to pick up a remote with my hands in order for my Google smart assistant to work! Other strange things is if I simply ask "please launch YTTV" it will do that .. and the YTTV menu lays over the actively playing YTTV in background (whatever program was last watches). Over a month of this Google? My "good morning" and "goodnight" routines do not function properly because of it!
09-03-2024 02:26 PM
I have to agree that the biggest headache this has caused in the havoc in my morning and night routines. What once were rock solid routines are all but useless. I called for an update again today and was told that engineers are still looking into the matter. I urge all to call in about this, I see no other resolution but to be a squeaky wheel. I want this matter resolved and cannot understand at all what is taking so long and why no information is being provided. As a publicly traded company, I know they are obligated to share some information but I am not sure what, but unfortunately we may have to look into it.
09-03-2024 03:43 PM
Why the Google assistant try is a good one. It shows the problem is with the Google Home or mini communication with the TV. Has to be an easy find.
Also the problem went from YTTV not installed under all conditions (I think) to be able to launch YTTV for “play YouTube TV on … TV” while claiming “YouTube TV is not installed” if you say “play CNN on … TV”.
i cannot imagine this to be a hard problem to fix. If I were at Google I would just debug and fix it! I think it is just not a priority despite the number is customers affected. I guess we are a drop in the bucket of 1 billion YouTube users. So they don’t care.

Good morning. I agree with the group. This has been going on for quite a while now with no remedy from Google. I suggest that we have this more visible in ways that it could impact their bottom line ($$$) or force a reasonable response.
Should we highlight this issue to Google's competitors? Would the elevated, negative feedback force a concern? Maybe.
This is unacceptable and I'm ready to move on to a different streaming service which works with voice commands.
09-06-2024 07:07 AM
I don't know about all here, but I wish I was in an area of the country that was more tech newsy. Like, I could report this to my local news outlet but there is no way it could or would get traction.
Does any know of avenues that could get this issue more publicly broadcasted? The Verge, Android Police, etc?

Follow Up, I submitted a "story pitch" to the verge regarding this issue at:

September 12, 2024. Hello, "YouTube TV is not installed at the moment" error Google Chromecast HD! Unfortunately, I'm still having the same issue with YouTube TV app Google HD error on two different TVs and Google Chromecast HD devices and despite the latest HD firmware update that brings the software up to version “STTE.240615.007”. Unfortunately it did not fix anything! Please read. Google Assistant app responds with " YouTube TV is not installed at the moment" over over and over…I am a disabled user and rely solely on voice commands and Google Assistant to operate my TV and devices. For me is not a trivial thing when my technology fails so often. I'm using the latest Google Assistant app and latest Google app updates.
Oddly enough, this issue does not occur with my 2022 Sony KD-50X85J using the same devices i.e. Google Nest Mini 2nd generation display. Probably because there have been no new updates on my so on my Sony KD-50X85J TV from Sony!

Here it is guys... The sad part is, they're still selling this two unsuspecting customers.

Google is no longer making new Chromecast 4K or HD dongles, but will remain selling them until inventory runs out. They will continue to be updated, with the latest release coming this week, and Android 14 arriving later this year. The re-elevation on the Google Store suggests the Chromecast will still be around for a bit after the Streamer.

Maybe a hope the update release will resolve the issue
09-13-2024 11:19 AM
My feeling is this may be a Google Assistant incompatibility issue with Google Chromecast HD.
If they fix Google Assistant & Nest hopefully it'll fix the problem.
09-23-2024 04:55 PM
Mine's been going on for I guess a month and a half now and same issues everybody else I'm just now trying to research it because football season's back and I use voice while I'm cooking or have it put on the game or whatever.
09-24-2024 01:16 PM
If I want to buy the new Google TV Streamer 4K? Will I get the same errors and problems I have with the Google HD and Google Assistant? Probably! Makes no sense to upgrade if you're still going to have the same stupid voice command problems such as following Basic Google Assistant Commands and changing channels by voice command why bother upgrading to Google Streamer 4K? Buy the new Google Streamer 4K model at your own risk! Google has had more than enough time to fix this problem.
Jz
09-24-2024 04:48 PM
YES YOU WILL!!! I just ordered the new streamer and guess what.
IT DOES THE SAME THING!
09-24-2024 04:14 PM
Same question. If Google is going to hustle us out of a new $150 for Google TV streamer....will it work with the Assistant, the Google Assistant Mini for hands free functioning? I mean seriously do you think we're going to upgrade if this basic bug isn't fixed to begin with? Seriously we're not dumb.
09-27-2024 01:14 AM - edited 09-27-2024 01:15 AM
Can confirm. Just bought the new streamer, slightly hopeful that it wouldn't find us way to the newest model. Still very much broken on the new model!
Infuriating, but maybe hopeful that because it's a software thing it can be fixed?
09-24-2024 04:58 PM - edited 09-24-2024 05:02 PM
I received the new streamer 4k today and it does the SAME THING!
Google TV is not instilled at the moment. Or I don't understand.
It will sometimes open up and link to install the app. but it's installed so I click open but that doesnt fix anything.
When I ask google assistant for specific channel I get 'It isn't available' or 'can't be played at the moment'.
ENOUGH ALREADY GOOGLE FIX YOUR ISSUES. I DON'T CARE IF IT'S youtube TV, google assistant, your hardware, or software. JUST FIX IT!
Class action lawsuit is looking better and better. It's bad enough you no longer read recipes, or answer many common questions like you used to.
09-25-2024 07:49 AM
Thanks for the heads up! I won't be wasting my money.

I agree up to a point, but If they are selling a brand-new Google Streamer 4K and advertising it as voice capable, that's just wrong. People who have bought the new 2024 streaming device are complaining about the same voice command TV channel changing app not installed problem as before in its Google HD lineup. I think they are focusing too much resources on their Gemini AI pipe dream to the detriment of their other devices.

All, its clear that Google does not care about the voices in this forum. At this point, I am emailing some regular tech news sites to see if they could help put more light on this issue. I know I know, "Broken Google Assistant" command hardly sounds like breaking news, but frankly this feels a bit extraordinary given the silence surrounding both cause and resolution. I implore everybody to reach out to some of these sites and do the same (Verge, Android Police, Droid Life, etc).
09-26-2024 03:48 PM
Well thanks for the effort! But for disabled people it's more than just an inconvenience.

Dear Google Devs & Management,
Kudos on changing our lives for the better by allowing us to control our TVs using nothing but our voices. Now we can watch our favorite shows, movies, sports, news and channels with a simple voice command, “Hey Google, watch the 49ers game!” And, if what we asked to watch wasn’t playing live, you considerately played the latest DVR’d version. How kind of you. If we briefly stepped away from our TVs and missed something important, “Hey Google, rewind by 30 seconds.” Clearly you provided us the instant cure for TV FOMO!
Ah, that was the good life. But now that it’s gone our lives are filled with anger and frustration at not being able to do all the wonderful things that we’ve grown so accustomed to. What this tells me is that you’ve created an AMAZING product with services that have truly changed our lives for the better. Thank you!
So please, continue doing great and wonderful things that impact our daily lives. But pretty-please DO NOT abandon your established products and customers who have grown to love and appreciate what you do…just please FIX THEM and return us to our techno-bliss!
Yours truly,
Grateful Google Enthusiast

It's now almost 3 months since this crashed. Please let us know if you intend to rectify the problem or you have deprecated the feature. This would allow us to pursue alternatives should you choose not to correct the bugs. My alternatives is to terminate youtubetv, remove all chromecasts from my system and use my echos and firesticks.
