'Hey google, what went wrong? Why doesn't anything work properly anymore? Why have features and functions that used to work (almost) perfectly degenerated into chaos and entropy? Why don't you appear able to fix anything, despite hundreds of identical posts all reporting the same faults? Have you just given up on us?'

A lot of users are having the same experience with their Google/Nest products.
My personal impression is that Google has given up on the entire product range and is now leaving users alone with it.

its so sad for what should be so very simple. Basic smart home functions just written off for reasons completely unknown.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you tell us more about what's happening with your Google Nest device? We’d love to help.

Regards,

Juni

  • camera quality turned awful since 1.65
  • no time stamps on SECURITY FOOTAGE
  • cannot set schedule for thermostats via google home
  • volume of doorbell the same as the device, why?
  • cannot change doorbell jingle to whatever we need
  • cannot exclude speakers from doorbell notifications
  • nest mini "pops" when using ultrasound
  • absolute no instruction for a fresh install of a battery doorbell to be hard wired (with no previous chime)
  • no way to backup familiar faces
  • routines coding has no means to use a familiar face a a trigger
  • cannot remove google provide personal routines, even though we dont want them. Absolute no way to remove them
  • website gives borderline no functions

the list is almost endless, the above is just what i could be bothered to type about.

My Google mini is not responding. All 4 LED lights remain on all the time. I try to reboots / resets and nothing works. Even tried factory reset button and 11 on / off cycles with 10 seconds intervals, still nothing. Any other ideas that I can try?

Yeah if only they would reply something other than "We promise we will fix it soon", it's been 2 years now everything aroung Google Home goes wrong when voice activated, from speech recognition to ramdomly not accessing devices connected, and nothing fixed at all. Even worse I talk to her in french and 50% of the time she replies to me in english "I don't understand". Everything has been done (reset apps/devices, re-train google voice activation, create a new Home in Google Home and migrate the things there...)
Please Google support, support us for real and if you can't fix it, tell us so we can definitely put that in a trashbin and buy another brand of crappy home assitants. Google once were the best but now is completely leaving their users alone. That's very sad.

Guys I found on Reddit half a solution. If you have several languages enabled in Google assistant, remove them and keep only one. Better understanding. Not perfect, but better.

Excellent list of google fails from Super_paulie above.

I can add:

  • nest hub max devices no longer work with speaker groups
  • routines are unreliable or don't work at all
  • no way of preventing devices from announcing what they have been asked to play - even in routines
  • frequent slow or non-existent response to voice commands
  • constant 'there was a glitch/something went wrong' responses from random speakers
  • devices suddenly stop playing cast audio while it still plays on casting device

Do you have any answers, Juni?

In any case, I'm at the end of my patience! Since Friday no music has been played on the speaker group. No matter which smart speaker I want to start music on the speaker group from, I get an error message!
