Android phone won't cast to chromecast 2nd/3rd generation

Tv has successfully connected to WiFi 

Android phone Google Home has discovered chromecast. Setup completed almost done then Google home says set up has completed successfully but device can't be found!

Driving me nuts.

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

 

  • Are your phone and Chromecast connected to the same Wi-Fi network?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
  • Did you get an error message?

They are on same network. Mobile data turned off. Connection will be via range extender. Used to work before with tp link router but now Nucom router which has been checked for app mode settings. Have factory reset chromecast and range extender. Same error.

I have done this so many times I have lost count. I think that the latest version of Google Home is not bug free.
