My Chromecast is still dead, too, because I reset it, which is the recommended procedure in these cases. After several days of no service, Google advised us not to reset Chromecasts. Now, apparently, those who didn't reset it can use it again, and we're still without service, and we haven't received any further instructions since Monday.

Estoy en la misma, yo reinicié de fábrica mi Chromecast y ahora los que no lo hicieron pueden autenticar. Y yo que debo hacer, creo que no soy la única. Ya Google avisó tarde que no lo reiniciemos.

It look so, that people that not reset can use it, you can read about that all over, but they come out with the info to not reset to late and many people have all ready done it…I one of the one that reset my…I really need to get my Chromecast to work again, because I can’t afford to by a new tv or a new Chromecast.
I could have accept if Google tell us in good time that this version of Chromecast will stop working from a date, but that they no give any information and from one day to the other my Chromecast stop working is no acceptable! I am really angry 😡🤯

My 2nd gen Chromecast still does not work, and I have not reset it, just made power off and on.

Now my 2nd gen Chromecast is working again, without me doing anything!!
But, I was lucky and did not factory reset the Chromecast.

I've given up on Google trying to solve the problem of Chromecast's death. At the very least, they should provide information about the progress and the deadline for finding a solution. It's a real disregard for their customers. I'm fed up. I solved the problem by buying Amazon's Fire TV.

Now I instal my Chromecast and it works again. I was factory reset my and it was not working, but now I try again and ir works. So all you that have factory reset do s new installation with Google Home app.
