Built-in Chromecast doesn't optimize fullscreen videos

I tried to cast tab from chrome with built-in chromecast but seems like chromecast is not optimizing the full-screen videos.

Hi tapas13,

 

Thanks for reaching out. Chromecast-enabled sites will generally try to automatically switch from casting a tab to an optimized mode of operation if you are already casting a tab when you visit the site.


Give these steps a try:

 

  1. Make sure your Chrome browser is updated.
  2. Reboot your casting device.
  3. Turn off your TV then turn it back on after 1 minute.

If the issue persists, please reach out to your TV manufacturer to assist you in factory resetting your TV or for additional help.

I'm having the exact same problem with my Acer Laptop and my Vizio Tv. I'll put a pic. on here of my Tv screen for anyone who can give us an answer to this problem. Shows up in the corner and will not optimize to full.  WIN_20220731_03_14_49_Pro.jpg

Billy45, I'm sorry to hear that you're also experiencing the same issue. Have you tried the suggested steps above? If yes, how was it? Please make sure the Optimize full-screen videos option is checked in your Chrome browser and make sure you're casting from a cast-enabled app. 

 

Note: The content that has an option to "Optimize full-screen casting" are the apps that are specifically cast-enabled. So it's really dependent on the content or app that you're casting. You may also try to reach out to your TV manufacturer for additional help.

However the same content optimizes full screen with google chromecast device but not with in-built chromecast with android tv.

Hey there tapas13,

 

That's an interesting observation that the Chromecast dongle will optimize full-screen videos, however your Chromecast built-in will not. Are you able to tell us what cast firmware version the Chromecast dongle and the Chromecast built-in are using? That way, we can see if maybe the Chromecast built-in is using an older version. Of course, if either device needs to update, please do so.

The built-in chromecast is updated with latest version 1.56.292394.

I'm sorry for the late response. If the issue is isolated when using your TV with Chromecast built-in, please reach out to your TV manufacturer for further help. You might also need to reset your device, then observe its behavior.
