Can't cast device seems to be rapidly connecting and disconnecting

A while back I started encountering an issue where I can't cast to the Chromecast. I believe the root cause of this issue is that the device seems to repeatedly connect and disconnect from the WiFi. (Restarting the router can temporarily help, but not necessarily and it within a day the issue returns) I have factory reset the device, but that didn't help either. None of my other devices have this problem so I am a bit perplexed as to what the cause of this could be? Also I should note that watching Netflix generally works, though the loading screen can be very slow.  Any ideas as to what the problem could be and how I might solve it.

Hi Fetto_on_Tour,

Thank you for posting here in the community. I'm sorry that your Chromecast is having issues staying connected to your Wifi. But no need to worry, help is here.

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some important questions:

  • What is the model of your Chromecast device?
  • Does it show any error messages when this happens?

I understand that you have already followed basic troubleshooting and the issue is still the same. Frequent Chromecast Wi-Fi disconnections can be frustrating. Here we have some potential solutions:

  1. Wi-Fi Network Interference:
    • Physical Obstructions: Ensure there are no physical obstructions between the Chromecast and your router.
    • Other Devices: Temporarily disconnect other Wi-Fi devices to isolate the issue.
    • Wi-Fi Channel: Try changing your router's Wi-Fi channel to reduce interference.
  2. Chromecast Placement:
    • Optimal Location: Place the Chromecast closer to the router for a stronger signal.
    • Power Source: Ensure the Chromecast is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a USB port.
  3. Chromecast Firmware:
    • Check for Updates: Ensure your Chromecast has the latest firmware.
  4. Factory Reset (Last Resort):
    • If all else fails, as the last resort I understand that you have already factory reset your Chromecast, please make sure to follow the appropriate guide depending on the device model.

Additional Tips:

  1. Check for Error Messages: Look for any error messages on the Chromecast or in the Google Home app.
  2. Test with Different Wi-Fi Networks: If possible, try connecting the Chromecast to a different Wi-Fi network to isolate the issue.

You can also check the following guide to Troubleshoot Chromecast connection.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Regards,

Mario

Model is G454V occasionally it shows that it couldn't connect which then resolves itself on retry for Netflix.

Issue persist even if it is the only device on the network. Restarting the router can sometimes work, but not always.

Chromecast is plugged into the wall and router sits at max a meter away. No other device display similar issue.

I believe the firmware is updated but I am uncertain.

I attempted a factory reset of the device after a long period with issue trying to set things up again I managed after a router restart, after which the problem returned within 24 hours.
