My H2G2-42 chromecast device is plugged into my tv with the USB and other port thingy. I’ve changed wifi networks and according to help topics, I have to press a button on the H2G2-42 chromecast device, but there is no button. I’ve unplugged it but it didn’t change anything. The message showing on the tv I have it plugged in says ‘run the google home app to connect to a new network, otherwise check my network. The Chromecast device will show up on my list of wifi networks on my iPad. I’ve connected to that, then returned to my actual wifi, then went into the Google Home app as per another post, but it still didn’t show up on the Google Home app. My google home app is on my iPad and I use it fairly often for other google products.
how can I reset it if there’s no button, and my previous wifi is no longer?
not sure if I actually have a 1st generation, but it’s old so I figured I do.

Hey there Rebkk,
I'm sorry to hear that your Chromecast is giving you some trouble. I know it can be hard to troubleshoot these issues since your device is a bit older, so I'd be happy to help you out! Let me just ask you some questions about your setup:
The button to factory reset your Chromecast in particular is next to the charging port:
To factory reset using the button, while the Chromecast is plugged into the TV, hold down the button on the Chromecast device for at least 25 seconds or until the solid LED light flashes red. Once the LED light blinks white and the TV goes blank, release the button. The device should then restart.
Let me know if you have any more questions, I'm always happy to help!
Best regards,
Jeran

Hey Rebkk,
I'm glad to hear you almost got it set up! What I would do in this scenario is follow the steps listed in this article. Just note, since you're using a 1st Generation Chromecast, make sure your iPad with the Google Home app and the Chromecast are both on the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
Let me know if you run into any more issues while following the troubleshooting steps in that article. I look forward to your response!
Best regards,
Jeran

I haven’t been able to get it up and running yet, and I haven’t had time to try everything suggested. I am not able to see, or know, if each device is connected to 5G or 2.4G so maybe this is the problem. Please be patient. I’ll give it a go when I get a bit more time and get back to you. Thanks!
