Cannot cast to my tv

Hi, so I’ve got a new WiFi router and my WiFi s much better because of it,

having set up all the new WiFi settings on the chromecast, iPad, iPhone etc I was unable to cast some apps. The chromecast is working because I can cast Netflix and you tube to my tv but I can cast iplayer, prime video or ITVX? I’ve reset the chromecast so I know that’s up to date. I’ve made sure all apps are up to date and on the lastest version, I’ve checked the WiFi signal and that’s fine too. I’ve contacted help on chromecast, iPlayer and prime and they can’t help me either? I’ve been trying everything for several days now and I just don’t get it?? I a cast Netflix and you tube but nothing else??? Why??? Somebody Please help??

Hi ClaireBear,

 

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. You're probably using an older version of Chromecast since most of the usage you mention is via casting. If so, then the Chromecast device is working as intended, or else none of the apps will work at all. Only the apps not optimized for Chromecast won’t be able to work on a working Chromecast device. Since you mentioned the Prime Video app, chances are this could be network or server-related. If you’re using a Chromecast with Google TV, try to install the apps (if available) on the Chromecast device itself and play them from there instead of casting them. To troubleshoot possible network or server-related issues, disconnect your Chromecast device from your home Wi-Fi, connect it (or re-set it up) to a smartphone’s mobile hotspot, and cast using another smartphone. Let us know how it goes.
