Cast from laptop to TV

My webbrowser cannot find any devices to connect to, although both devices are connected to the same wifi  network

Is this your own home Wi-Fi, not a shared/hotel/cafe/education/work Wi-Fi network?

Try these steps:

  1. Make sure your Chromecast is within 15 - 20 ft (4 - 6 m) of the Wi-Fi router if possible.
  2. Reboot your router. Most routers just require that you unplug the power source and then plug it back in to reboot.
  3. Reboot Chromecast by removing the power cable, then reconnect it.
  4. Reboot your computer.
  5. Turn Wi-Fi off and on again on your computer.
  6. Make sure you're using the latest version of Google Chrome.

If none of the steps above help, you can try to factory reset your Chromecast and do setup again.
