Chrome cast something went wrong

I factory reset my sons 1st generation chrome cast so I can set it up at my dads house. Everything goes fine until the google home app shows”Something went wrong cannot determine if a Google account was previously linked” my tv is connected to the wifi, I have the chrome cast background pics ect, but my iPhone can’t find my chrome cast and I’ve tried EVERYTHING they say to do.. please help…

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue setting up the Chromecast. Let's sort this out.

 

Quick question: What's the LED light status in your Chromecast (solid or blinking white light)? Please try the steps listed below:

 

  1. Reinstall the Google Home app.
  2. Turn on local network access for the Google Home app. Here's how: On the iOS device’s home screen, tap Settings > Tap Privacy > Local Network. You'll find a list of apps > Choose the Google Home app > Turn on local network access.
  3. Manually connect to the Chromecast SSID. Here's how: Go to the phone’s Settings > Open WiFi and connect to the Chromecast SSID (Example: Chromecast1234, Living Room TV, Bedroom TV, etc.) > Go to the Google Home app and try to set up again.
  4. Reboot your mobile phone, Chromecast, and router.
  5. Use a different mobile phone.
  6. Reset the Chromecast again.

It’s solid white,I’ve tried it all, the chromecast is connected to my wifi,when I rest it and follow all the steps,it shows me the code on the tv ect and then says connected, then the error pops up on my phone..I’ll try these steps again, I don’t have another device to try instead of my phone.

Thanks for getting back to us. Let me know how it goes after trying the steps again and if possible, you may try to borrow a mobile phone to your friend or family member so we can isolate the issue. Also, please try to use a different Google Account in setting up your device.
