While watching a movie on Netflix, a message suddenly appeared on the screen: "cannot connect to the Internet". I watched the movie to the end without any problems. However, from now on - despite resetting to factory settings - only the following message appears: "cannot connect to the Internet" and further use is blocked. I bought a new Chromecast4 HD and the same thing happens with it. The router shows that it is getting an IP address, but the message is still the same. I changed the WiFi network from fiber optic to another one (from a GSM hotspot phone) and the same thing happened on both devices. I conclude that the device probably cannot log in to Google servers somewhere. Of course, other devices connected to these WiFi networks work properly and there is no message that I am entering the wrong WiFi password.

The same Chromecast HD in another town (different Internet provider) "passes activation" without a problem, downloads the selected applications and works properly. After returning home: the same message again: "unable to connect to the Internet" and no further use. Moreover, the new iPhone 15 cannot be activated either. I am reporting the problem to the Internet provider, because until the first days of December 2023 everything was without problems. Who knows what IP address the device uses to determine that there is Internet?

Hi Joanna54,
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We’re sorry for the delay in response. It seems clear that the device is working as intended. For some reason, something prevents your device from getting internet access despite having a chance to connect to the network, which makes this situation quite odd. It could be an outside influence or anything that grants rogue IP (IP address conflict), but clearly, your Chromecast device is not faulty.
Let us know if you have other questions.
Thanks,
Kimy
