Chromecast will desync if paused.

Hello, I hope this is an easy problem to solve?

Currently using chromecast device to play local PC files on the television in another room. Many of the files are .mkv and using vlc media player as the renderer works well.

The single issue is if I pause using the chromecast remote the video will lag behind the audio when resuming. Separation occurs about 30 seconds after resuming. If the file is played without pausing then it works flawlessly.

Why is this desync happening? Is there a way to pause the program successfully?

Thanks.

Hi grantburns,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We’re sorry for the delay in response. We’ve been getting a lot of this, which is isolated to the VLC app. If this is happening on mainstream (known for being stable and established) apps like Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, Prime Video, etc., then there might be an issue with the Chromecast device. I suggest you reach out to VLC support for more information.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy
