Chromecast 4k crashing/rebooting during cast

mirmix

I got a chromecast ultra (received with the stadia bundle at the time).
I never used it because of this problem:
when i connect it to my samsung 4k tv (any hdmi, cec enabled/disabled) it crashes and reboot after some minute from casting start.
when i connect it to my keenwood rv7000 ampli (1080p max) it crashes and reboot same way.
when i connect it to my asus 1920*1200 pc monitor it works and never reboot

Tested with same streaming platform, same film, same streaming device.

I'm using the original power supply, but the crash happens even with other power supply or using tv usb.
I already tried to factory reset it many times.
I also thought it could be a excessive heat problem so i tried attacching a big fan to it with no luck (checked temp drop with a laser thermometer) .

Hi once again mirmix,

Thanks for your response.

I really appreciate you taking the time to troubleshoot and test your Chromecast extensively. Since you've tested multiple HDMI ports, power adapters, and Wi-Fi networks across a variety of devices, and your Chromecast is behaving the same way on all of them, I suggest the best course of action to get your Chromecast back on track would be to fill out this form.

Filling out this form will allow my team to get in touch directly via email so we can take a closer look at what is causing your Chromecast to behave this way and determine the best course of action.

Let me know once you've filled out the form. I'll keep an eye out for your response so we can get in touch with you as soon as possible.

Regards,
Angel.

Hello mirmix,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I understand how frustrating it can be when you can't use your Chromecast on all of your devices. Let's see what's going on.

Can you tell me which app you're trying to cast to your Chromecast? What's the LED status on your Chromecast? Could you also please let me know the model of your TV and if there are any other devices you've tried using your Chromecast with besides the ones you mentioned.

As a first step, please consider how far the Chromecast is from your Wi-Fi signal and if the device you're trying to cast with is on the same network. Also, try connecting the Chromecast to multiple HDMI ports on your Keenwood RV-7000 to see if the behavior is the same.

Any additional information you can provide, including the Chromecast status in the Google Home app, would be helpful.

Regards,
Angel.

Hey Angel,
thank you for the interest.
The crash seems to happen with every app, but the latest i tested are netflix and chrome.

My samsung tv model is UE43NU7400. On this TV i tested hdmi1 port that has ARC and hdmi3 port.
I tested disabling CEC (Anynet+ in samsung words) and HDMI UHD Color with same result.

The Keenwood RV-7000 is in my parents' house and also there i tested on different hdmi ports.

In both houses the chromecast is in the same room of the modem (tried 3 different modem models:  technicolor DGA 4132 brand tim, ZTE H388X brand tim, ZTE H2640 brand poste and 2 different APs: ZTE h196a brand tim and ubiquiti Aircube).
I tried using same SSID and also differents SSID for 2.4G and 5G bands.

The PC monitor is an asus pro ART

I also encounterd the persistent crash connecting the chromecast to an old Philips 32'' hd ready tv (neon retroillumination, probably 32PF5331/12 model but i'm not sure).

The led is full white when i start casting and the device in the google home app is correctly shown online and reproducing content, then when the cast stop the led starts blinking slowly in white and the device become unreachable in google home app. After a minute the led become orange the goes off and then when the chromecast ends the automatic reboot it get back to full white and i can start casting again.

Hey Angel, i've filled the form as suggested.

p.s. Just to be clear, on the pc monitor (only) the Chromecast doesn't crash.

Hi Gab_994,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I understand you have a Chromecast Ultra from the Stadia bundle that's crashing as well. Have you tried any of the troubleshooting steps listed above? They've worked for most users experiencing similar behavior. Have you tried connecting your Chromecast to other HDMI-capable devices? What were the results?

Please try the steps outlined above and let us know if the issue persists.

Regards,
Angel.

Hey Gab_994 , unluckily no solution.
The chromecast seems to work only when connected to pc monitors (tried 2) while crashes always when connected to a tv (tried 3 + 1 sintoamplifier). Maybe is the audio casting that let it crash? The 2 pc monitors do not have built in speakers.
Tbh, compiling the form was a waste of time. I have been contacted by a guy from google that kept asking me chatbot-like question, some of which had already been answered here.
