Chromecast Google TV: Streaming-app won't close

ph_1960

I have several streaming-apps (Netflix, Prime, Disney+, local TV-providers,...) on my Chromecast. When an app is running, and turn the Chromecast off, and ie. I turn it on the next day, the app that was running opens, but it is not possible to close that app (return- or home-button, on/off),...). I have to go to the google assistant and tell him (spoken) to open the desired app. From thereon the chromecast is working as it should.  How can I close the running app without to speak to the Google Assistent ? I was very persistent with the Netflix-app, so I had to remove it from the chromecast, and I use it on the smart-TV....

I've checked the firmware version and that is the latest version available.

Thank you for your solution(s).

Hi ph_1960,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry that you're having troubles with closing the apps on the chormecast device with the remote. I understand how frustrating this can be. I'm here to help.

Before I begin, I need to ask a few questions for further assistance:

  • What happens when you click on the home or back button if you are watching a video or a movie?
  • When did the issue start?
  • Can you double check if you are turning off the chormecast or just the TV?
  • What color is the led light when you turn off the device?
  • Did you change the batteries on the remote?

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Kevin
