I have a Chromecast HD connected to TV via HDMI. Running latest firmware. Eero Wi-Fi router (also latest firmware) located approx. 4 metres away in same room, unobstructed. ISP speeds 150mbps download and 30mbps upload. At first, everything works great and I get full download and upload speeds. However, after a while, download speed significantly drops to around 5 to 10 mbps typically. Upload remains the same. The only way to get the download speed up again is by restarting the Chromecast. No other Wi-Fi devices are affected. Full signal strength at all times. I have tried adjusting the position of the Chromecast, flipping it over etc but it makes no difference. Any ideas?

Hey @DavidSilveria77,
Is this a new issue or something that has been happening ever since it was installed? One thing that has worked for me is to forget the Wi-Fi network in the settings and then add it again. This usually works and restores a solid Wi-Fi connection.
With the signal dropping in speeds, did you notice this from constant buffering or just through speed tests?
Thanks,
Brett

Hey Brett,
I’ve had the Chromecast maybe a few months. I think it has done it since new.
Sometimes I notice videos get a little choppy, which is usually when I run the speed tests.
I will try forgetting and reconnecting Wi-Fi, thanks!

Just to update on this. I deleted the Wi-Fi connection and connected again. Same issue - started off with full speed downloads but it has dropped to the 20 - 30 mbps range now. Videos playing OK still, but it does make me wonder why the performance drops over time.
