Chromecast / Streaming Multiple Devices in Caravan

We have a caravan with 2 bunks (teenagers) that have drop down DVD monitors with USB & HDMI. We were using the V2 Chromecast effectively on the mobile router in the caravan to cast to the monitor, we recently also bought a Google TV Streamer and set it up in Google Home app for the Caravan TV, which is awesome. But there is no AC power point in the bunks. When we added the streamer to the app we can no longer use the Chromecast on the same network, it’s like the Streamer device overwrote it. Can I have multiple Google Chromecast devices on the one internet connection? What do I need to do? Just add devices all with different names?

Yes, you can have multiple Chromecast devices on the same network.  I have about 7 (including some old Chromecast Audios).  You do just have to give them all individual names so you can tell them apart.

My question is your comment about their not being an AC power.  How are you powering it?  Do not use any USB ports, they do not put out enough power for Chromecast devices.   Also, if you have to unplug the V2 Chromecast to plug in your Streamer that will make the V2 temporarily disappear because it is not powered up and reporting itself on the network.   Once you plug it back in, it will appear again.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it. The Chromecast V2 just has a USB cable to power it and I plug it into the USB port also on the TV or in this case on the DVD monitor in the kids bunk and it does power up. So, I’m going to work on the different naming convention, I’m just so glad to hear you can have multiple on one network.
