Hello,
I have a home theater with the AV processor and receiver in the basement. The den contains a 10 year old Sharp TV with mounted surround sound speakers and a subwoofer. A Logitech remote communicates with a IR device in the basement via RF. The IR device then communicates with the equipment.
I am planning to switch from DirecTv to Youtube TV and am planning on purchasing a streaming device. Would I be able to place a streaming device in the basement and communicate with it via my remote? Which streaming device would work with my system? Would there be any additional setup needed?
Thank you

You are probably going to get a lot better answers from asking in a Home Theater Enthusiast community.
I expect you may have trouble using a Chromecast with Google TV in this situation because the remote that it uses is a combination Bluetooth and IR device.
Honestly, for your setup why not consider getting a modern TV that includes built-in apps to avoid a streaming device entirely? I love my Chromecast devices and they have certainly brought new life and features to my TVs but your situation is a little more complex than normal.

Quick answer is that your Logitech remote will not work to directly control the Chromecast Ultra as the Chromecast remote is a Bluetooth device. However, depending on the distance, the Chromecast remote should be able to control the Chromecast in the basement from your Den. You are also able to control the Chromecast from an Android/IOS device using the Google Home app or by voice via google assistant.
If your TV or Receiver has and you are using a HDMI CEC connection, the Logitech remote may work for some of the Chromecast functions where the TV/Receiver sends the control signals to the Chromecast via the CEC connection. I have a Chromecast Ultra hooked to a Philips Hue Sync Box and then to the HDMI CEC connection on the TV and I can control the Chromecast with the TV remote.
