Chromecast defective?

Hi. I've had 2x Chromecasts misbehaving now, I plug the device in via wall socket and TVs hdmi, it has been previously working fine but now just before it reaches the user screen (with photo on), it cuts out and starts all over again repeating this over and over again. I feel it could be malfunctioning but my second spare one which was on my other TV is doing the same, both were permanently powered into the wall socket which I was told to do by Google themselves, they said it wouldn't cause issues having permanent power supplied but I'm now unsure. I should point out, I've performed hard reset (not worked) I've unplugged for an hour (not worked) I've tried so many things on here but I can't seem to find any solution that matches my issue so Amy new solutions would be fantastic and I thank you in advanced for your assistance. • Ps I'm unsure what generation my cc is but it's round with a G in the middle and has a short permanent hdmi plug attached so hopefully this identifies it. Many thanks

Can you confirm that both your chromecasts are doing this on both your TVs , or is it only happening on one television set?  Just want to eliminate the variables here.

Hi thanks for the reply. It's happening on both TVs .. it's so strange as both started doing this very closely timed to each other . Also if I cast my phone's screen, it seems to work ok, but if I cast from an app like YouTube or a supported website, it seems like it's too much for the Chromecast and it starts to reboot itself just before the main screen you cast from. Makes no sense to me. I purchased them both at the same time approximately 2years ago and they've worked effortlessly since but this issue started about 2 - 3 weeks ago. It's so weird
