Chromecast does not work no matter what I try.

I've tried to set up my chromecast for the past hour. I've done the troubleshooting steps, I've messed with the settings on google home, I factory reset the chromecast and restarted my phone, and I've messed with my wifi. Nothing on the internet has been working either.

What exactly is the issue with your Chromecast?  Is it a new device?  

Its definitely not new. I've used it very rarely over the past couple of years without much issue. Right now, I've been trying to connect it to my iphone. Google home shows that it "Connects" for a split second and then it displays an error. Says that the device may be set up but can't communicate with my iphone.  I tried messing with the permissions like it instructed, but nothing changed. I then did the troubleshooting questions they were also useless.

  • How do you perform a factory reset? Check out this article to ensure you followed the right instructions: How to factory reset your Chromecast
  • How far is the router from your Google Chromecast?
  • Do you see a status light on your Chromecast? If so, what color is it?
