Today we got a new Internet line installed and needed to connect our Chromecast to the new network.
In trying to do this, I mistakenly removed our Chromecast from my Google Home account, and on trying to reconnect it to my account I am told that I need to factory reset it as it was already registered by another user...
As I can't factory reset from the Google Home app since I removed the device from my account, I tried to physically reboot the device by disconnecting it from the power, leaving it for a minute and plugging it back in as advised online, but this has not factory reset it. It's still trying to reconnect to the old Internet connection which no longer exists.
Are there any other means for me to factory reset the Chromecast so that I can register the device back to my account and set it up with our new network connection?

You'll need to factory reset it by holding the physical button on the Chromecast. Here's how to find it:
How to find the physical factory reset button on your Chromecast
While the Chromecast is plugged into your TV, hold down the button on the side of the Chromecast. The LED should begin to blink orange. When the LED light turns solid white, release the button and the Chromecast should then restart.

I hVe a similar issue where I need to factory reset my chromecast not in my app, but it has no button. I've moved house and can't access the old WiFi. Any other way to factory reset a chromecast with no button?

Hiya Ropegosi,
All of the Chromecast models have a button on them for factory resetting. Do you happen to know what model of Chromecast you have? You could also upload an image to the forum if you're not sure.
