Chromecast no longer displays the Youtube video choices preview at the bottom of my TV screen

Up until about a year and a half ago, If I asked Google Nest Mini to show me YouTube videos on 30 minutes of ocean waves,......I would get a bar across the bottom of my TV screen with various Youtube video suggestions starting with the number one,.......then 2,3.4 etc.  and Google would ask,...."which one would you like?"  I would respond with whichever number I wanted to watch,.....and it would begin playing that video on my TV.   Now (again, starting about a year and a half ago) when I ask Google to show me "Youtube videos of 30 minutes of ocean waves,. or ..Steeley Dan in Concert,...ETC.  I no longer get the preview bar at the bottom of my TV screen,   but Google Home still asks me "which one would you like",....If I respond,...."Play number 1" (or any other number),...it will then begin playing that video,......just like it used to,......but again,....it doesn't show the preview bar of videos for me to choose from.     This is a Chromecast wide problem,.........ALL Chromecasts stopped displaying the Youtube video preview bar about a year and a half ago for ALL Chromecast owners.   Google customer service rep Jennifer V responded back in 2022 that Google technicians had identified the problem and were working on it,....but the problem has never been fixed (for any Chromecast user).   There were no further responses from any Google representative.   Can you tell us what happened and if this will ever be fixed?

Best regards. Brian C.

Hi @bcolins,

Thank you for posting in the community.

Absolutely, the lack of YouTube video previews on Chromecast can be frustrating. Here's what I found:

  • This feature seems to have been removed by Google in a recent update, and it's not something you can control.
  • Many users find it inconvenient, as it requires manually searching for videos.
  • There hasn't been any official announcement from Google about the removal or bringing it back.

Here are some things you can do:

Jorge.
