Chromecast search for app not working

Maybe someone has experienced that - when I try to search for an app in Chromecast, I always get an error to try later. Reboot did not help, same problem persists over few days

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Chromecast device. Let's sort this out.

A few questions: what type of Chromecast device do you have? If you have a Chromecast with Google (4K or HD), are you using the Google Assistant on the Voice Remote to search for an app? Is this only happening in one app or across all apps? What voice command are you using? 

In the meantime, please remove and/or train your voice through Voice Match in the Google Home app. Also, please plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV and reboot your Wi-Fi router. Resetting your device might also help.

This is Chromecast with Google TV (4k). I have tried rebooting the device, wifi router, as well as plugging into another HDMI port - nothing helped, I still get "There was something wrong" error when searching for the app. I try searching both with voice and with typing in. 

If I try searching for the same app in general search field (not in apps), I get only YouTube search results, but not apps.

Thanks for getting back to us. Could you please check in the Google TV settings if the Apps only mode option is enabled? If it's enabled, please turn it off and check if you'll be able to search for other apps. Also, if you haven't tried performing a factory reset on your Chromecast with Google TV (4K), please try that and let me know how it goes.

Thank you Jennifer. This finally helped. Although I was disappointed that the app I was looking for was not available. Although it is advertised by the service provider to be available in CHromecast, I could not find it - Telia Play LT

Hi FunnyDito,

No biggie! This still depends on the app developer to decide what devices their app can be installed on. I've checked the Telia website, and it looks like their app is only supported via casting to the Chromecast devices. See the information here. You may also reach out to the app developer for additional information.
