So I have just purchased a Chromecast, so far have gotten nowhere with the set up as it will not show a display screen on my tv, I found it on my iPhone but could not get a qr code or 8 digit code to complete set up and have no since lost connection on my phone too, no matter what I try this thing will not set up and by the looks of it won’t reset so I can start again, any hints or tips appreciated, as so far every video I’ve seen they get an instant screen on their tv

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. A Chromecast device that would require a QR code to be scanned is the Chromecast with Google TV. But the Google Home App from a smartphone won’t detect the device without pairing the remote and choosing the language first. If the TV never really showed anything, despite the Chromecast device showing a white LED, switch to a different HDMI port. If it persists, reboot or reset the TV. Another way to isolate it is to try the Chromecast device on another TV.
