I have two Chromecast, both purchased at the same time. The one on my Den TV works fine. The one on my bedroom TV connects to my Xfinity Stream (or any other streaming service). It says casting to TV but I only get three dots and the program title on my screen but cannot get the actual video. I have disconnected wifi and reset the router, removed the device from Google Home, Factory Reset but none of these actions resolve the issue. Again, no problem with my other device on Den TV. I've "stop casting" several times and tried to reconnect but same each time. Says casting to TV but I can only see the screen with the name of the program and three dots that never go away. BTW, it's not the Xfinity Stream app as the same happens regardless of the streaming platform I try.

I have this same issue, but with my FIOS app. I switched from DirectTv Streaming service, and had this issue in the past as well.
It’s network related, and not app dependent. Switching router, internet service, and got FIOS because we moved, and the problem went away for a few months. Back in July FIOS app started not streaming to the CC.
This is the final time I deal with the issue. I will be removing all of my CC related equipment and likely never coming back. Years and thousands of people with the same issue. Google unable to admit the ownership of the issue.

This is the feedback I received from Google support today: [Chromecast] Gen 2 can still support other Stream apps. but not all anymore, other apps also updates specially Comcast Xfinity stream app, this app works with our Ultra, 4k and HD version. you can contact xfinity for support for more updates and info.
It seems that Google is suggesting that the Gen2 Chromcast is no longer compatible with Xfinity Stream, but was unable to share any articles that articulate that. Followed up with Xfinity, and they are unaware that their Stream app is no longer compatible with gen2 Chromecast. Xfinity rep is opening a level 2 support ticket.

Thanks for the info on your interaction with Google support. My problem with the stream not starting is still occurring on the HD and 4k Google TV devices, and will work or not depending on what device they are attached to.

Hey Bobf123,
About the interaction that @intrepid1985 had with our support team. There might’ve been a misunderstanding or a possible miss in delivering the right information from us. The Chromecast 2nd Gen, up to the latest version, is still getting updates and should still be working. I still suggest sending feedback using the steps that I posted above. I hope other users who experience this follow my suggestion too, to help increase the number of reports. We look forward to your feedback.
Thanks,
Kimy

Good news, everyone! Based on a user post over in the Xfinity forum, they indicate that the issue is fixed. I tried on my problem TV, and it now streams again. Don't know what the problem was, but wanted to give thanks to everyone over on the Google side for their support and help in getting the problem reports over to them.

I hope this is also the case for everyone. Kindly check, and if needed, try to update or reinstall your app. Let us know how it goes.
